CONCOURS Cam Chain tensioner install?!!!

Alright....I have the Concours tensioner here.

The ZX14 service manual says once you insert the NEW tensioner, you must remove valve cover and insert long flat screwdriver to release the tensioner as the tensioner is being locked in place by a circlip. You will HEAR it release......

So much for this being an easy job?

Any engine gurus care to share any info on this?

Thanks.

Its pretty much like a paper clip with a round head on it to grab onto. Its holds the tension on it so you can install it. Just pull the pin out to release it. Make sure you have it bolted and in the right position cause you will have to take it back off to press it back in to install the clip again.

Yes, I know how it works...so are you saying to release it, then install it, released?

There is no way to release it once it is installed, unless I remove the valve cover and insert a long screwdriver to hit the clip.

pulling the valve cover isn't very hard and should only take around two hours the first time you do it
