It Was A New Bike Or ..........
Had to add to my Boyz Toyz collection. Was thinking about a new bike but I have my 06 ZX14 set up just the way I like it and the 01 FZ1 is still a great commuter bike. So I decided to replace the 02 Audi A4 with the new 08 A5. Sent the pics out to my riding buddies expecting to get some good advice like "Ya need to add a blonde, brunette, or redhead (or maybe one of each) to your Boyz Toyz collection" but what do I get - a bunch or recommendations for a vanity license plate for the car:
MDLFCRSIS
OVR-40
SGR-DDY
LIC®-PLS
plus a few I won't mention.

I can actually ride the FZ1 on a curvy road faster than the 14. The FZ1 turns in much easier and I feel more confident on it. Plus it gets 45 mpg while cruising all day long at 70+ mph. It doesn't have a temperature gauge (just a warning light) so I'm not tempted to become all bent out of shape on engine temps like I am on the 14. It's much nicer to not know unless there's a problem. That said, it's disadvantage relative to the 14 is a lack of low end torque. I was able to retain the EXUP valve in the exhaust system and went through several rejettings until I found a good combo that didn't kill low end power and added to the mid-range. I commute to work on the FZ1 during the spring, summer, and fall, remove stress from a hard days work with the ZX14, and appreciate the all-wheel drive of the Audi during the winter snow season.

Love the A5. It's a nice answer to the other high end coupes and it's about time for Audi.
