Rolled My 14

I broke all of the plastic, lights, gauges, ... off of the bike. The stator cover was even wasted. Of course the engine lost all of the oil. Check out how I temporarily fixed it.
The engine sounds as good as before the wreck. The fork just took a little work with the triple tree clamps to make them strait. The bike is now my weekend time machine project. Before the wreck my best time was 10.12 @ 132. This is the 5th pass I made, and it was my first time to 1/4mile ever.

When I had the wreck I was on public roads. No cops were involved. The frame sliders gouged the asphalt alternatively . The speedometer was wasted. Both fluid reservoirs were broke off.

I have installed new connectors and hoses to get the front brake and clutch working. The engine sounds good. The bike will be used in the 1/4 mile only.

I have 2 questions:

1) Where can I buy decent fairings for the bike for the drag strip?

2) The upper left engine mount is about 1/2 inch off where the slider was taking a beating. I am told I can loosen all of the mounts and make it lineup again. http://s43.photobucket.com/albums/e391/sssscot/wreck%20and%20conduit/?action=view&current=P5090019.jpg

I walked back to the friends house I had just left and he helped me get the bike out of the states jurisdiction.

I do not know how or why I stayed on the bike. I do remember thinking every time I flipped "When is this going to stop, bam, when is this going to stop, bam...

I did not even miss a day of work, and only had about 10 good pain killers.

Check out these pictures:

hate to see it but glad you're ok.

try the classifieds in this forum or ebay for plastics. if you have to buy new, go to ronayers.com

hmmm maybe a couple of zip ties and a roll or two of duct tape and bike will be fine.

Sorry about the wreck, but check the frame where the air filter goes in.
I saw another bike that had been hit with the same mount alignment issue,
it had cracked the frame right where the filter goes badly!

Hope everything goes well, if you are just racing it, just replace the upper fairing,
cut the oilpan for more clearance, slamm it down low and have some fun ! ! !

Me and a few Vicodin's didn't even miss a day of work! I had just bought a FIRSTGEAR jacket for the track and was wearing it. It did tear up the jacket. My left knee had some pretty good rash and I have never been so sore in my life. I went to the doc's the next day and x-rays showed nothing broken. The pictures are of where the sliders gouged the asphalt as I rolled.

Thanks for all of the responses. If I had hit something I would not be able to be writing this. I have been riding more than 40 years and will have no problem getting this bike in the 8's. The only thing more exhilarating is sex!

Would you share what how it happened so we could learn how to avoid this? I've been riding for 44 years and flying 15. To learn from someone else's mistake is far less painful and deadly. Advice isn't free,........ death is.

Thanks for asking davej. I handle rattle snakes as if they are earth worms. I can service domestic bee hives without a veil. Just the word jalapeno makes my mouth water. Piquines really hurt..

I get on my 14 after faltering around on a Harley and it is like going from a trail 90 to a ten speed. I can handle a bike.

The truth is that I was doing a trap speed of about 80 with the front tire off the ground. When I cut it back it was too late. The front tire hit the ground in gravel and the rest is a lesson not to do that again.

I grew up on dirt.

My plans are to add a few inches to the swingarm, go down one or two on the front and up 3 or 4 on the back, cut the oil pan,

Hell, I put lower dog bones just so I could touch the ground! Andy at the track is helping me! He is on a GSXR1000 doing low 9's!

Give me a few more passes and I will be in the 8's

catalyst makes race fairings for it, and actually a guy on psychobike classifieds is selling some...
bit pricey though I think...

I think I'd cry if my bike looked like that....
