Flyless 08'

Just bit the bullet and removed the flies from my silver 08'. Honestly this was very simple, and only took about 40mins from start to finish. All screws came out really easy, I just ran the bike to get some heat in them and away they went. Of course it started to rain just as I was buttoning things up, but I got Brocks new 08 map installed and ready when it dries out.

I ran it with one access panel off just to see what rpm they opened and at above 4k or so they would start to open a little. Ive never ridden a pre 08 but they must have really sucked down low, as I came from a Busa and even the 08' sucked. Though Brocks map really helped, I cant wait to see how this runs.

Very interested to hear about your fly-less experience. I'm loving all the power my silver '08 has, and I'm still on break-in. Did you install the pipe and PCIII yourself? I have little mechanical talent beyond an oil change, how long/difficult was that?

I had a friend who is a Motorcycle Mechanic do the work for me.I have installed pipes before and its not a bad job.Just take your time,be patience.I am getting use to the Smeg, its fairly note worthy. But it looks good and lost a ton of weight(Stock is heavy)Power wise it seems a little slower on top gear roll-ons than stock. But i could be wrong.Never got past 7-8 grand. The 08 has good low end and mid range stock.Sometimes you loose a little down low with a full system, but with the weight savings hopefully you will not notice.Good luck !

The actual task of removing them were very easy (in my opinion) I also have done all the work to the bike. The Brocks system was very easy to install compared to my old busa. I took my time and it took about 2 hrs or so to complete this. The part thats the most pain in the butt is the fairing removal. Thats where I would give the busa credit, it seemed a little eaiser to remove the fairing.

I got to ride this morning to work and really liked the difference. I wouldnt call it amazing or nothing like that, I guees due to the fact that Kawa improved from the previous years, but it did feel better. I would gauge it to be about 20% to 30% better, (this is just perception not power figures). I really like the improved low rpm feel and the throttle response.

In summary, for the amount of work involved, the improvement in overall feel of hte bike, I would reccomend this modification.

Also I installed Brocks Overall street map or flies removed. I havent had a chance to flog it, but it feels very good so far.

I tried the track map and ran great but the street is much better on the street as it should be. For just normal running I will be running the (improved streetablitly street and track map. This one definenently seem sto run the best overall.

Reward,I am running a track map with my 08.Seems to run pretty good.I am just waiting for the rest of my maps. Its seems its hard to get maps from the man(brock).I bought my SMEG used supplied them with all the info they asked for and still got denied. So next its time to take a picture. So in your opinion what s the main differance in the street versus the track map? thanks for any info

The biggest difference was how responsive it feels. The (street/track map with improved drivability) is leaner and there for feels better at all rpms. The track only map runs great but is richer and less responsive at lower rpms while driving around town. The track map runs great when on it hard, it seems to pull harder on top, but for around town riding I'll stick to the street version.
