Smokin, I need your knowledge!

My MPH is down on the back half of the track. I am running 1.37s 60, 5.70 in the 8th at 123 but only managing a 8.93 int the quarter at 144mph. What is going on with babygirl? she is dying on the back half. gearing is 16/43 running pump gas and was running u4 with the same times. help please

Could be a few things ...First i would check the clutches and springs ....It could be slipping on the top end and causing a lost of MPH .... Second thing is to reload your map and check the throttle setting at 0 and 100% ...There is a problem somewhere with you only picking up 21 MPH on the big end ...You should be picking up 29 to 30 MPH on the top end ..

Your ET is only off a little on the top end that's why i think it's the clutches .. If you can't find anything wrong with the clutches or map i would do a leak down test and check the plugs while you are at it ... It could also be the fuel pump OR dirty injectors caused by running U4 fuel ... That stuff really junks up the pump and injectors big time .. If that is the case run some MR9 and that will clean the pump and injectors ...

You mean U4.2 ?? Because as far as i know they don't make reg U4 anymore.. If you have U4.2 in the bike thats why your MPH was so low ..

We had a guy on a 1000 here gain 4 mph with it....., no other changes, in worse air (on my TAG), than the previous outing.........

I am still running the same (with a map change), as the OLD U4.

Some guys are gaining with it......, but always look at the weather changes........

Well it's not a fuel problem because U4 works great in my bike ......Unless the u4 was very old and had gone bad .... Back to looking at the clutch and other things we talked about ...

Yeah, it has to be old, not saying it was bad, but we all know it has to be old........

Could have lost its good properties...........

Isnt a good test for a slipping clutch to cruise at about 30 mph in 6th gear and nail it and see if it slips?

Nightmare, Smokin also said it could be plugs, i seem to remember your bike loading up with oil and you thinking you blew the motor.............do you think the plugs could be slightly fouled and maybe thats robbing your topend power?

I figured that BM, but i figured they could have fouled again while he was riding it trying to blow out all the remaining oil..............................i had fuel issues due to warped throttle plates and went through 4 sets of plugs..........they can foul fairly quickly and they can partially foul where just the top end or just the lowend doesnt run clean.

That said though your probably right that the clutch is far more likely.

Plugs are good I am going to do a roll on a few times in a few now. Clutches look pretty good as far as we can see. I am thinking it is the fuel. Next step is to check the map.

I could be wrong, but if it's not your clutch, 16/43 seems like alot of gear for your weight. Were you already running the same gear?

You are light if I remember correctly. I am damn near 300 suited and was running 16/44 running good. Went from 16/44 to 17/46 (ratio change from 2.75 to 2.706) and actually ran better. Had more mph but 60' was just as good. Just my 2 cents.
