first service 475 miles
What do I do? I want to keep the ZX in best possible shape.
Can I do my own first service w/ the oil cahge or do I have to take it to the dealer?
I don't want to x the factory warranty. oh I also hate spending more than I have to.
Thanks

Just change your oil yourself, check your chain slack and adjust accordingly, and check any bolts to make sure they're still snug. You'll be fine.

All of your periodic services are recommended not required. If the manufacturer required them you wouldn't have to pay for them. When someone brings their bike to me to work on I can tell if it's been taken care of or abused and not serviced. Example: " My bike is making a funny internal noise", first thing I wil do is drain the oil and slice the oil filter open. This will tell me a lot and give me insight in what to tell Kawasaki before they give me approval to do the work or tear the motor down. Dealers are required to keep all warrantied parts for 90 days in the event Kawasaki wants them for inspection.
Just remember normal wear and tear items, especially clutches are not warranty items.
Take care of the bike. You have to pay to play.
