Flies out drivability

Is anyone out there having problems with their flies out 14??? I just picked up a full Muzzy system and a PCIII. I have a couple of budies that have already installed similar systems on their bikes, plus they removed the flies. Numerous occasions they have fouled the plugs because of their "custom" map they had made. Is the map the problem, or is the flies being pulled that causes the plugs to foul. I downloaded the map from Muzzy for stock air filter, flies out, and full muzzy system. Is their anyone else using this setup and what problems, if any, have you encountered.

I guess my point to all this is I am worried about pulling the flies and having an adverse effect to the streetability of the bike. I absolutely love the bike........above 6K rpm. Any input is greatly appreciated.......

It's the map. With a correct map having the flies out is just like having the bike deliver power like it was designed to.

FTS is correct. You have map issues. You may want to recheck your map to see if your download worked. I have used the same map on at least 10 14's I have installed the Muzzy full system on with no issues...just smiles and nervous hands. I might suggest that you pull the stock air filter and remove the metal mesh backing from it and reinstall until you buy a BMC race filter or K&N.

does the modification to the stock filter call for any changes to the mapping??

I haven't installed the pipe, PCIII, or map to my bike yet. I am riding it this weekend and will install my junk Monday night-sih. I am also looking at wrapping the headers before I install them. I don't like the high visibility of the headers from the front of the bike. I want to wrap them in black header wrap, or at the least, paint them with BBQ pit black paint.

Anyone else out there wrap their headers??? Any noticable changes in the bike: good/bad?

I have the Full Muzzys Stainless with flies out... PCIII. I had a very rich map on it for a couple of days and couldn't stand the smell... The bike ran well and the plugs still look new. I got a map from MUZZYS (never istalled it) but then had a friend give me a map that had been done for his bike which has my same setup.. and more important.. it was for 'our' area.. I live in Wisconsin and our weather goes up and down.. so the map I have is an 'in-between map'. It runs perfect. I have only had a problem with the PCIII ground wire which I reran. It is definately a MAP problem if the plugs foul. The flies out actually takes MORE fuel so the map you choose should be for flies out or you will run too lean. Taking the screen off will allow more air.. so that also will require a bit more fuel. It does cost money and a little hardship on your bike... but if you can... get it dyno'd for your specific bike. You will be pleased... and you will sleep better not worrying. Good Luck. You will love the flies out response!!

So, anybody have a map for what I will be running for the Dallas-Amirillo-southern Oklahoma area??

Also, the pipe has an O2 sensor bung on the header. I don't recall seeing an O2 sensor on the last 14 worked on (I assemble bikes out of the crate at a local dealership).

Brocks map for the flies out was spot on and ran perfect. I would think the muzzy map should work?

In regards to your question about the O2 sensor bung welded in the header, many manufacturers do this to accompany a sensor if you chose to purchase one. I have a Muzzy M10 with the sensor bung welded in.

Yep....that's why I put one in when I made my turbo header. I was using an automotive A/F kit (like the kids use in their cars) but now will be going with the DJ wideband and LCD.

Got the stuff installed and the flies out. The flies came out very easy. The screwdriver didn't even hint at slipping, nor did I have to use alot of torque to get them out. I was so worried that I would strip a screw that the ease of removal was a pleasant surprise.

Now for a shower and off to test the "new" bike out..........

OMG!!!!!!!!! I am in love with this bike...again....

And how in hell do you guys keep the nose down with 16/43 sprockets???? I am thinking because of my weight (close to *cough*400*cough*) I might need to go up a tooth on the front.
I do love the roll-on without the secondaries.....now this is the bike that I expected to drive off the showroom floor........

Add 5-6" and she'll stay down a lot easier...except that she'll spin the tire much easier...
