Tires...

Gentlemen.

I would like to post this on every board - but due to limitations I will depend on word of mouth.

Any ways, the subject is Tires.
They are bloody expensive for what they are.

I want tire manufactures to get a clear msg from posts here.

We are tired of paying Exorbitant amounts of money for these tires.

Excessive, very expensive, very high, steep, over priced, ridiculous...

Tires have changed over the years.
They melt off faster.
Traction has greatly improved.

Dont you think it is time for the tire companys to get behind us and work with a little.
How about a tire sale guys?
We go thru enough of them.
If the price came down I would buy more.

What are your thoughts guys?
Please dont mention R&D...
If they make them we will buy them.
If they are truly the best tire word will get out fast.
What can we do to get this msg sent to manufactures?

I think tires are too expensive. So, yes, I agree. I just bought some new Pilot Powers, front and rear and it sucked.

When Gas prices go down, tire prices will go down. Oil is used in the production of tires as well....

Always thought Tires where the cheapest add-on..There are plenty of "cheap" tires out there but i wouldn't put them on a ZX14..One good road rash "skin" event and you will spend the extra on a good set-up..Buy a NO-MAR tire changer and your tires 6 at a time and save 20%..To me the rip off is the dealers charging $55 for mounting each tire..

Supply and demand........if you stop buyin' they will get cheaper for me

The tire manfs are competeing for price and quality. If they could be cheaper they would be. I bet if you look REAL hard you could get some kinda tire from China or India for cheap......then we will see more scrap bike parts on eBay.........

That was the idea volume...
We buy alot of tires...
We spend a ton of money on rubber...
We buy top end tired all the time...

We get no price breaks or sales...

Maybe bikeland can find a supplier for all of us...
Someone who is willing to move a volume vs 1-2 sets a year...

Break outa the box guys...
Tires from Taiwan & china?
Why the hell would anyone suggest such nonsense...

I will be buying 3 sets this year...
Tell me how many u willl be buying...

really...
Tires have stayed the same here...
Reason?

They are already bloody well over priced.

But give them (tire manufacturers) a reason like a runny nose and none of us will be riding this year.

Anyone got the power to delete this post?

Please do it

I thought there would have been more support.
It seems people are not paying enough for their tires yet.

Thanks for your help.

Fury.. I do agree with you about the hardship of buying tires.... but.. If you have a 1973 honda CB360 I bet the tires would be 'cheap'. Try putting rubber on a Vette or a Viper... it is the same for bikes. The tires have to be made for high performance vehicles. The weakest link for traction is the tires. If the tires are not made to handle the motor.. then the price will be down. Since we ride an rediculously fast bike, we need to have rediculously designed (and priced) tires. Remember, the tire company will be held responsible if an accident occurs and the tire is at fault. It is the nature of the beast (I think). The price covers their rear ends also.
I concur that if we can get a group buy through an organization... we could get a better price. Lastly... I want to say that because of the price of tires.. I go easy on mine. I have over 5,000 miles on the original tires. I will soon have to replace them both. So.. let us know if you find anything out about a good price. It is not that we all don't agree with you.. and/or want to support your effort... but I believe that the companies are going to offer better tires every year.. instead of offer 'cheaper' tires every year... My Opinion.

I have went through 3 rears per front using the stock bridgestones. I use 2 rears per front with the metzler z6's...same for the pirelli diablo stradas.

The stradas are the cheapest and last the longest so far. 230 for a F/R set with 7-8k per rear.

I'm about to replace my first rear tire, but I bought a front/rear pilot power to match them up. So my stock front will still be "ok" when I throw it away.

But I normally use 2 rears to 1 front. After the 2nd rear, the front tire seems to always get severely cupped.

i ditched both bridgestones when the back wore out for pilot powers, one great investment in traction
