VELOCITY STACKS/BMC RACE FILTER WHILE BIKE IS APART???

With people whispering in my ear, I'm considering doing some aftermarket V-Stacks and maybe a BMC race filter while my bike is apart. I have a 2006, flies out, full SS Muzzy, PC3. I want reliable, everyday ridability. What velocity stacks would you recommend and what are they gonna set me back? As well, what type of numbers might I pick up from the combo of them with the BMC along with my flies out and such. Are they worth it for an everyday rider who wants a little extra "umph" without going in the engine?

But why? I did used the search on here and I didn't turn up much about them. Read a few web sites and Some say good mid-range but power loss up top. I sorta need to be educated on them if anything.

Velocity stacks for all intents and purposes do not create power they move it around, I havnt known anyone that has had any real benefit from running stacks. just FYI

Hope this helps

This is kinda what I gathered but I'm not the keenest when it comes to stuff like this. From the stuff I read it seems that they "move" your power to mid range for the most part. I like what the flies out do for me so I may pass on them. The bike is a mild mannered killer so to speak. I don't want to break the tires every time I snatch 3rd on it. Will the BMC race filter give me "up top" power? chances are if I'm up there then I'm asking for whatever the bike throws at me.

id just let the shop do their thing, i wouldnt want to mix warranty work with any labor being paid for out of your own pocket. it looks like anything youd want to do would be a quick, simple job to do on a weekday evening.
bmc filters are worth the money, and comparing the oem filter with a bmc you will see why. nothing really noticable (like fly removal or a pipe), but a nice touch to keep things flowing well. also, you might want to check the filter from time to time, as it is very thin and meant for race applications. good luck, and glad to hear kawasaki is covering everything accordingly.

Just don't forget to have them at least change your rear spring. Trust me, your confidence in the cornering ability of your bike will go up tremendously. Turns it into a, umm, porky 1000. you can do your front forks later, but the rear is the main suspension issue the 14 has. Back that up, will ya fellas?

My front has been doing the diving and bottoming out thing that I hate so much. The guy who had the bike before me softened up the suspension fully because he had raced the bike. I been struggling to get it to work for now but I'm no suspenaion guru. I will definitely take your advice on the rear spring for now like you said and have them set the up front and rear suspension for a 200 lb. rider. I need that "porky 1000" feel because God knows me and my first bike (1999 ZX-11) got to love the turns well, lol.

racetec +1

First time I ever used racetec, heard alot of good from alot of people beforehand. And they were right. Manages to be stiff enough to keep bike very planted but soft enough for a decent ride.

velocity stacks basically lenghten the intake runners which increases top end while reducing low end performance (there is always a trade when mods are made and exhaust back-pressure also effects this) imo the 14 doesn't need any help on top and the only type engines i've ever seen benifits with from using velocity stacks were v-6 and v-8 engines which had different length intake runners and used velocity stacks of different lengths to make the distance from atmosphere to cylinders the same which in turn improved cylinder balance. if you plan on operating the engine near redline all the time then the stacks might be beneficial otherwise i would pass
