16/43 will fit with stock chain length. I'm running 17/43 on mine with stock chain but I made the change after already racking up 9K miles. If you have less than 5K miles it may not fit.

16/43 will work no matter the miles but some have said it's a very big jump from stock gearing. A few also have been using 16/42 which is claimed to be 'exciting' without being over the top like 16/43.

FYI - My 17/43 gearing is about 80% of the change that dropping one down in the front to 16/41 gears would net. I went this route since I'd rather keep a 17 tooth sprocket on the front.

How much do you weigh, and what do you intend to use the bike for, street, strip, both?

Also what type of rider are you, do you like short snappy gears that you rip through real quick and pulling wheelies or do you like longer smoother gears and a more docile feel.

Generally heavier riders or ones who spend more time at the dragstrip or like short snappy gears use more gearing while those who do more street riding or highway crusing and like longer smoother gears use less gearing..........gearing is a compromise and personal preference..............that said without knowing your personal preferences i personally think 16/42 is a great all purpose gearing that works with a stock chain and is good for street and strip.
