zx14 prostreet commerce
Just got home frome Commerce and man let me tell you that velocity racing zx14 with only it's first ever 2 passes has the lowest ET of the field 4.89 at 159mph! They are only running the 1/8th due to a wet shut down from the rain. Barry was very excited {even though he is a suzuki sponsered racer} and said the potential of the zx14 is unbelievable. Brand new bike, no seat time, Bud Yoder the rider, outrunning all the busas, amazing! Anyway I left after round 2 of pro street and I am curious to see if the lone zx14 can keep holding off all the very fast and experienced turbo busas. Needless to say the owner of the big kawi from South Africa was really excited. He told me the bike was finished 2 weeks ago and Velocity spread their magic and tech all through the bike. Could pro street have a new heavyweight contender?????????????? check results on dragbike.com Mon.

I saw the pics didn't know it ran that fast though.
Ryan and Muzzy's ZX14 in Super Street was rolling as well.
That man can 60ft like he has wheelie bars back there.

I asked barry the same thing and he said the kits he designed for those South African 14's were the only ones he was going to do.

I don't know what happened, but did you see the tire smoke after he cleared the traps in the second round. Looked like headshake then he locked up the rear tire.

Funny Barry and the others all know the zx14 makes killer power with a turbo but they will not build a kit ... I say screw them!!!!! Don't spend any money with them....

Smokin there may be some pressure from Suzuki with that decision. There are plenty of kits out there, but in my oppinion the three best ones{at least for the busa} are Velocity, RCC, and NLR. These three are way superior to all the others and unfortunately they deal mostly or exclusivily with Suzuki. I did see Ricky Gadson talking with Barry and looking very intensely at the big zx after that second round pass. Maybe things will change in the not to distant future with more "boost" possibilites from the above builders. Anyway I hope things are progressing with your new liter bike.

I'M with you lee' I asked barry rite after the 14 come out and i won't tell you what he said, but it was not very flattering. The way these 14's take to turbo's is getting alot of attention. I wonder what he'd say now. I will just keep installing the atp kit an watch these things fly.. Bill.....

I was there did you see Richard run he ran the 14 and 10. On the 14 he and Ricky damn near ran the same time. i cant remember what the times were but I think as a whole kaw did pretty good till later on. It seem like the zuks ran a little bit better than the kaws when the temp dropped.

That's the Catalyst pro-street tank. Its around $1100. Then you'll need the pro-street tail.

I have a few pics of the Bike with the Covers off! that I will see if Freek or Fish will put up.
To be 100% Correct, the first full pass the Bike ran a 5.03 with Low MPH because of a shifting problem the first Run!
The Bike ran a 4.95 the second run and the Shake on the 2nd run was because the Swingarm Oil Catch box had an obstruction that did not allow it to be fully drained after the first run and pushed some of the oil out of the Vent hose on to the RIght side of the rear tire. Both things were fixed!
The Third run the bike ran a 4.90 at 158+ which was the Highest MPH but the Quickest times were Barry's own Bike with a 4.89 at 154 in Quailfying for the #1 position
The third run Barry's bike made a 4.85 Pass which beat the Quickest run of the night at 4.82 Both Bikes were Busa's
The 14 was no where near dialed in so Pierre left the bike here for Barry to Finish. They may or may not take it to Tennessee for the finish of this round of racing.
The bike was built by Barry with the Help of Pierre's Son JP in 3 weeks. In SA the bike will be ridden by Jan who does not have a left Hand buit can use the end of his arm to operate the Clutch lever quite well.

For a Man without a Note Book you did real well! and were 100% correct over all because that Bike is the quote: "Quickest and Fastest ZX14 on the Planet Earth right now"
per Pierre Labuschagne (Bear Racing) who Spared NO Expense to make it so.
I also think that he wanted to blow the Muzz Man into the weeds in the process and that was done in spades when the Muzzy bike ran a string of 5.29's

Vincent- The Bear/Hinson ZX-14 Looked and performed great. I am sure both are very pleased. I am sure Pierre would love to blow us in the weeds, as you put it. However the bike's Rickey and Ryan were running are in a different class and are not supposed to run as fast as the Pro Street Bikes. If class does not matter then they still fell short. We ran 4.61 with the ZX-14 Pro stock Bike. For the record we ran 4.88 at Indy in 2004 with the ZX-12 Shoot out Bike.

I think the Bike will be in Tennessee. Will your bike be there? Maybe he should add with a Street Tire (for Now)??
