2010 ZX 14?
Just curious, with the 08 ZX 10 putting out close to 170 at the Rear Wheel, what types of changes and how much horsepower do you guys think the 14 will put out to remain the big dog in 2010?
Anyone think thy will go a full 1399cc or redo the head, change the cam etc........

Until the busa comes up I don't think Kawi will worry about the 14.
The 10 may have peak power, but it ain't the same.......TQ is the big dog......

traction control, fly by wire,performance/economy dual mapping with switch, ride leveling switch in conjunction with the ecu and front brakes to limit chances of a flip over in either direction.I think electronics and safety will start coming into play to stave off lawsuits.

I don't know wrongway, seems dynajet has a big market. It wouldn't surprize me if one of the big companies came out with an up graded "race" ecu to try to claim some of that profit.

That could be a valid point, however from a marketing perspective i think Kawasaki left a good amount of untaped potential in the 14 so they could turn up the wick every few years to get people to pony up for the new model, big bores last a long time they have to do something to get that demographic to buy a new one more than every 10 years............sure the 14 will always have more torque than a 10, but i just cant see Kawasaki letting the 10 surpass the 14 in horsepower either............i say the 14 gets at least 5 extra horses in 2010 or 2011.

Personally i'd like to see flies opening immediately or at least a switch to disable them from opening late so you get max lowend power, i'd also like to see a full 1399, possibly from increased stroke so heat isnt an issue, also better head porting and cams for more top end power.

I remember when the 450 Honda was the new screamer and people said when is this insanity going to stop? After all the speedo would go to 140. The trend is for more power as far as all this gray hair goes. P.S. 235 hp ain't cutting it no more.

Lime Green for 2010? I'd love to see a true 1399cc.
The aftermarket will always be able to de-restrict anything kawi does to slow us down.

We already have bikes with fly by wire, ducati has a race spec ecu for their race exhaust, suzuki has multiple power switches on the handlebar,it's already here.Don't underestimate the power of the insurance lobbies. With all the accidents from stunting and sport riding,I believe it would be naive to think restrictions wouldn't be pushed.Imagine this, get a speeding ticket and they reprogram the speed limiter to 60mph by satellite control.Just saying!

I just read Orwell's 1984, your scaring me aliveagain..............seriously though i could see the performance switches becoming a possibility but reduced performance, i'm not sure............14 riders i would think would be more mature and would have less accidents than the 1000's and 600's.
Dont get me wrong i certainly see your point and it is possible but i just dont buy into the argument that horsepower causes accidents i think inexperience and recklessness causes accidents, just like i dont think restricting law abiding citizens from getting guns will stop criminals from murdering people with guns.

The '08 10 is putting 170 on the ground!?
My buddies '07 STOCK 10 got dyno'd Saturday at 60 degrees, 55% humidity and he got 159hp. That's a big stock change, 11 HP or more at that rear.
My stock 2008 14 got 169hp, with 104/lbs torque. I can't wait to see what it pulls with flies out and the alien head.

187 and 112 !, but the massive fat curve, and overrev plateu will say allot more than the peak numbers....
the 14 uncorked makes more torque at 3700 rpm than any literbike does at peak, and the curve is 3 times as wide!

TQ rules.
When the new 06 was being tested they said that it produced more driving force in 2nd than a 10 in first.........THAT'S power.

They should tested it geared, with flys out and a pipe..........mine pulls harder in 2nd now than it did stock in 1st and most likely harder in 3rd than a 10 does in 1st.
