strap question

Just wanted to know have anyone ran a strap on their bike without the bracket. if so how did it act. i heard it can be done with no prob. brackets will be here soon but wanted to try this weekend. thx in advance.

I saw a guy with the rachet straps on his front forks and noticed the hooks stretching open...I dont know how long they were on the bike, but I wouldnt recommend doing that...

I've seen it done by passing the strap through the hollow front wheel spindle. Not ideal because the webbing runs on the outside of the fork leg but it did work.
