2008 ZX-14

Hello all,
I've just joined this site because I'm about to buy a new ZX-14 in the next day or two. I'm negotiating right now and wonder if someone could give me the dealer invoice price for a basic 2008 ZX-14 that has a MSRP of $11,699? I get two different stories from dealers so I just need to have the facts when I make my final offer. Thanks in advance!

EFE... There are two MSRP's for a ZX14 one for a standard and one for a SE (special edition) 11,699 is a standard model MSRP.

Dealer invioce is different depending on the volume of sales, just accept that the dealer needs to make a profit and buy the bike. Unless you are a volume buyer and the dealer knows you by sight and checking account., he will make a fair profit on you. Because without one you won't have a dealer to go to for your next bike.

Start around 10,500 otd. You prolly wont get that due to the high tags in AZ. but it will be a good place to start/

Who ya dealing with?? Kelly's in Mesa ?

Not for sure, but if my memory serves me correctly, the 2006's were $11,499. MSRP and the invoice was around mid $9k. Make an offer around $10,400 and see what they say, but stick to your guns on that price. Maybe someone else will answer up with info on the going prices in your area. Hope this helps.

I was thinking $9800 invoice, but there's a holdback for the dealership, right?

If I can get $10,500 out the door, I'd be happy. I think I paid $10,845 OTD here in SoCal.

I purchased an 07 in July in Texas and the dealers got a 1K rebate from Kawasaki. I paid $10,600 OTD for mine. Don't know if the rebate is in effect for the 08's. Good Luck!!

No Rebate for the 08 yet. the Invoice on the 08 is about 10200 and yes the dealer will get a holdback on that if the bike is less then 90 days old

Kawasaki City in Irving TX has the 08's OTD for Out-of-State sales at $10,608.00.

How about an 07 14 for $9,493.00 OTD for Out-of-State?

Of course, add tax, title and license to that for whatever it is in your state.

If your dealer is trying to BS you, show this to them online at:

I was at Bert's Megamall in Covina this past week and saw a silver 08 ZX-14 for $9999.

What they add on top of that is up to you to negotiate.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I was hoping to get a response last night because I got up at 6AM this morning and rode down to Tucson to buy the bike, froze my fanny off!

I paid $10k + tax & lic for the ZX-14 (silver) and traded-in a beautiful Suzuki M109R (also silver). After driving both, I can say without hesitation the ZX-14 is quicker but the M109 sure rides more comfortable, and it's pretty quick also!

Anyhow, the next question.

Are there any adapters to lift the handlebars up just an inch or two on the ZX-14? As I was riding it, I could imagine the left and right grips lifted up just another inch or two and it would be a lot more comfortable when just cruising. I know they are made to be low and sleek, but just an inch higher would really make a big difference!

Thanks,
Ed

I went to their site and checked the spacers out. I wish they could raise them a little higher than 3/4", but they said the bars hit either the tank or windshield. I see they were able to raise the bars 1 3/4" to 2" on some of the other models, that seems odd they can't do it with the ZX-14? If 3/4" is all I can raise them then I'll have to go with that, but I know 1 1/2" to 2" higher would be perfect and much more comfortable!

Thanks for the tip!

Another question for your guys, or maybe I should ask it on another thread?

I noticed the bike seems to really slow down fast with the clutch disengaged, is that normal?

I expect it to slow down fast when the throttle is released because of the 12 to 1 compression, but my M109 coasted very easily when I just released the clutch, not so with the ZX. It seems like it has a drag slowing it down faster than normal? Maybe it's the brakes need to wear a little or the chain and driveline need to loosen up, but it just slows down really fast even when going downhill on a slight slope? I would think a sport bike is more aerodynamic than my cruiser was, but it doesn't act like it.

Thanks,

Noticed the same thing. I double checked EVERYTHING, but still that quick slow down. Ran it against my friends 636 and against my own TL1000R, and it acted like the brakes were dragging. Until I hit about 2000 miles on it, started getting better. Now at 3,000 miles, it acts like normal, outcoasting that 636 actually (which it should, because heavier vehicles will coast longer than lighter vehicles - physics! Dont know if it was the bearings, but I really think it was.

We had a couple of days of weather in the mid 50s so I got about 50 miles on it after work. I had my 11 for 13 years so its going to take a little to get use to it but man when I hit the freeway and put it about 4000 I thought I was doing about 65 like my 11 boy was I wrong speedo read 80 and the torque is impressive.

Just wait Kevschev, that is nothing. Don't get me wrong, the 11 is nice. But compared to a 14, its just a novelty. The 14 feels like it pulls you forward with twice the G forces as a zx11. It's that big a difference. And keep in mind, once you have some good hard miles (usually around 2-3,000) on it, it will keep making more HP and once it's done freeing up alll its power it's nearly a different bike. Talking the difference between power wheelies in third after 3,000 miles versus no power wheelies in third at all (Im 300+ pounds). You'll see...

kevchev!
welcome to the board
impressive torque?

remove the secondary flies and pick up 30ft lbs of torque below 6000rpm!
up from 60 to 90 ftlbs! then put a pipe on it, a good 4-1 will gain ya about 10-12 hp at peak, and 28 rwhp at redline!

the 14 is a bike thats just beggin to be uncorked!

Dubious, he has an '08, he wont notice that big a increase with the flies out. Unsure how much an exhaust picks up, either, on those 2008's. Though just adding slipons to my 2006 made a very noticeable increase in power. Talking at least 10hp from seatofpants-O-meter. lol

No shit they did. I couldnt believe how heavy those damn things are! Then I found out that the cats are also inside the mufflers - that explained ALOT! That weight loss might have explained quite a bit of the sudden difference in power I noticed, too. Hmm, didnt really think about that before...
