Be warned if you try to use a triple tree stand!

Was at my buddies to change my springs in my forks, so he pulls out his professional series triple tree stand. First problem: I had to remove the front fender to physically fit it in!

Second problem: due to the angle that the arm has to rotate to lift the bike, it hits the bikes fairings just under the head lights. Just after making contact with the fairings, it cantilevers the pin out of the hole and the bike slams down, forcing the pin right into your radiator.

So be warned all: You too could be buying a new radiator!

Has anyone here used a triple tree stand that worked with the ZX 14?

No, I returned the pit bul one I had.
Didn't work... thought it was cause mine is lowered....
wouldn't get in there without hitting plastics....

I put mine on the rear stand to stabilise/ balance mine, then ruhb soft straps around top clamp, and hoist frt off ground using big beam in garage rafters...

balancing it on the rear stand is very important, otherwise your bike will wallowing on its side like a washed up whale...

I have a Pit Bull Newfront Stand that lifts from the steering stem.

There is a SPECIFIC PIN for each bike that MUST be used. Since each pin is machined to be an exact fit in the hole , there is no way it can come out as pressure is applied to lift.

In the case of the ZX-14, it's easy - it's a (drum roll please) #14 pin! This pin has a slight bend in it to make it work without hitting body work.

I did remove the front fender as a precaution, and it does NOT hit any other body work.

Just put the bike on the rear stand to stabilize it first, as the stem stand has no support side to side.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

I just use a set of stands I purchased in 2004. I always have it on the rear stand and the front stand that lifts from the bottom of the forks. Ofcourse I can't service my forks like that, but I don't care.

Front triple tree stand works great. I have to lift my bike quickly for tire warmers to go on and off, but I used one on the ZX14 as well for quick lifts.

It took a LOT to get the right stand, and RIGHT pin in front, before it would work. Now that its set up, its a split second thing. Which makes putting warmers on and off quite simple.

The type I use for my bikes is VORTEX (left), much flexibility regarding setting perfect height for raised or lowered suspensions, and many pin selections.

Yeah I had what I thought was the right pin. It physically fit perfect into the hole, but it did not have the slight bend. None of the pins in the kit has that bend, guess the 14 is a specific one vehicle use only pin. Thanks for the info. BTW I was using - or trying to use - a pro line pit bull. #14 pin on order I guess! Unless steve wants to get rid of his old pin since he no longer has a 14. ???

I doubt my VORTEX pin will work with that stand. Once you get it right you'll be amazed at the half-second lifts.
