Help Please!

So i take the bike out today for a short ride today. Put it away then about 30mins later idecide to take it to the store. Won't start! Started fine 1 hour ago. The gauges are doing the little spin like normal but i notice that the ave milage, tripmeter have reset. Voltage on the screen says 12 volts.(low considering i was just on the damn thing) And i don't here the noise i usually hear before start up( fuel pump?) Any help would be great. Push the starter button it does nothing.

Man you are going to kick yourself for this: Top three suspects are

1: is the right hand thumb kill switch in the "Run" position?
2: Is it in gear? With the kickstand down?
3: Did you turn the key too far and leave your running lights on on accident?

Don't abuse the messenger! Those are all things either I or friends of mine have done, and found out AFTER going ballistic and cussing the bike out.

Other than that, I can't help you. But a multi-meter is in your future!

My vote is on the kill switch like Sticks mentioned... I hardly ever use mine. But, I've had other people flip the switch leaving me scratching my head and wondering what's wrong with my bike, then it hits me... check the kill switch, lol. Same symptoms that you've described anyway. And hopefully that's all it is.

I once had my side stand spring break on my TL1000R. Was in the middle of now where sitting on my bike looking it over and trying the start button when my friend pulled up and pointed at it. I was ready to walk home! Good thing it has an auto kill, could have been ugly on the next corner.

It's none of the above. I did notice when i stopped for gas and restarted it seemed like it was turning over slower then normal. Doesn't make any sense to me because it started right up this morning. I will check the batt. connection.

Sure sounds like a bad battery to me. It built up just enough charge after sitting to crank.

+ 1 on the bad battery. They can go bad real fast. Check the connections first.

Well, I think i just wore the batt. down a little by starting it every few days without riding. Started this morning and after a tank of "spirited" riding it seems fine. No probs with start up at the few stops i made today. Thanks for the help guys.
