Changing the sprockets

Okay, its amateur hour over here, but we can't the damn front sprocket bolt (the engine sprocket nut according to the manual) to turn. Anybody know any tricks? I'm afraid to apply heat, my impact wrench isn't making any headway, and my breaker bar is killing my back! Any hints?

AIR IMPACT !!! Don't waste your time with a breaker bar. We tried to get one off for 30 min. put "air impact" on it and took it off in 5 seconds.

Agreed, a GOOD air driven impact wrench is needed. We tried ours on my bike and it wouldn't shift the nut but luckily the Snap On man was outside and loaned us one which did the job.

It's not the lock washer, we tapped down the one bent side first, then when we couldn't get the nut off, we tapped that sucker flat all the way around just in case. I'll find a GOOD gun tomorrow. Thanks, guys!

maybe this is ridiculously obvious, but make sure to oil the impact. it does make a difference if the impact hasn't been oiled in a while

kawi uses threadlocker.... duh ... why?
who knows, it has a lock washer...
In any event, I heated the nut, being careful not to burn the seal, and a 20" johnson bar with friend standing on the rear brake and spun it right off!
The rubber damper in the stocck frt sproket was burned a little ... :P it was headed for the dumpster anyway

Just to add to everyone else's procedures. Make sure it's a 6 point socket not a 12 point. Bump the nut forward first, this breaks the loctite loose then immediately loosen it.
