Hey EFE, welcome to the site... were you by chance part of m109riders.com? There are some good guys over on that site. My dad has a 109 and loves it. That's a really fun bike to ride and fast for a cruiser. Congrats on the new bike. You're going to love it. Ride safe brother. Welcome to the community!

Yep, that was me! (( :
I traded-in my silver M109 on the new ZX-14. It only took a few weeks and I was missing the comfortable ride of my 109 so I called a friend of mine. This old guy also bought a M109 (black) and only drove it a few times (1000 miles) and had to park it because he suffers from Vertigo and can't balance on it. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse and now I have both bikes! ((( :
I ride the ZX-14 when I want an adrenaline rush and the M109 when I take long cruises. I love both and they each have advantages, the ZX-14's blazing acceleration and the 109's comfort and great speed for a cruiser. If I had to choose only one, it would probably be the M109, it's just a great all around bike and it flies compared to any other cruiser, besides it gets lots of looks everywhere I go, much more than the ZX.
Thanks!

as far getting a Z06 for $25K, I've seen a few in the local papers recently up here in the Washington State area. Last one was a 2005 Z06 with 72,000 miles ( !!! ) on it for $25K. That was gone by the time I called though. "Average" price for a '02-'04 Z06 is around $30k. half off and 4 years old is about right.
The benefit of a Corvette, as you well know, is that there residual retail value never drops much after it gets 4 or 5 years old. The POS late 1970's vette's are still fetching $12-15K and those things were butt ugly and extremely slow! So I can justify using one as a high mileage commuter for a couple years until I wear it out, then I rebuild it into a street strip terror.

You won't see a 2006 C6 427 Z06 for anywhere near $25k (more like $53k to $63k), but you can pick up an older C5 2001 to 2004 somewhere in the neighborhood of $25k to $40k. I think the 14 would have trouble pulling my Z06 from a 50mph roll, after 100mph the Z06 would really be hard to run away from, that's when it pulls unbelievably hard! ((( ; I took it all the way to 191mph last summer on Route 66, I can't imagine taking a bike anywhere near that speed. (( ;
EFE ZX-14
Nice wheels you have / had.
I have to be honest though,
ALL WITHOUT THE NITROUS:
bike and rider my zx14 is 3.8 lbs/ rwhp
a 3000 lb car with 200 lb driver and 400 rwhp (550 HP crank) is 8lbs / rwhp.
the bike has 2X's the power per pound!
I have seen the the otherside of 186 mph GPS with my 14 quite a few times, and have also hammered on many vettes and a few vipers....
I mean annhilate.... not even a race! I was embarrased for them ....for a moment.... LOL
Now at the time my flies were out with brocks pipe and map, but otherwise stock, and there is no way in hell a vette nor viper, nor any 3000 lb car, car shy of 900-1000 HP is going to keep up with the zx14 off the line, or roll on. and I will already being bouncing the limiter for some time before they make up the distance to catch me....
I have ran my bike from 0-185 -0 , yes , and back to zero in 3795 ft!
I am betting the cars don't even get to 185 in that distance!
PS,
the vette is a much more reliable car than the viper....

according to the cop that arrested me because he mistook my white 14 for a red 600rr his crown vic will outrun me lol. His exact words were "My crown Vic may not be very fast, but it's more than fast enough to catch one of those little crotch rockets." lmfao The car vs. bike argument is pointless. Reason being? you never know what you're getting yourself into with a car. There is just too much room to hide shit. I saw a guy in a Ford GT Twin Turbo get his ass spanked by a stroked busa in jacksonville. Now, that busa would have gotten murdered from 150mph up, but who really races top end anyway?

Dubious that is exactly why I mentioned that race with the Viper GTS. I'm a very capable rider, just a bit heavier than most, and for a Viper to even come close to matching me in a rollon (2 rollons 50-150+mph, and a zero - 100mph) I thought was pretty amazing. Like I said, I've raced the 427 Z06 Vettes before and they werent much of a race from any speed.
That Viper was, though. If I was a betting man I would put his numbers at least in the 700hp range minimum. I still had some throttle on him. Just not as much as I woulda thought if he was anywhere near stock.

700 Hp is the even up number for a 3,200 pound car @ 700 hp = 4.6 to 1
520 pound bike 200lb rider = 720 / 185hp = 3.8 to 1 lbs to hp
After 100mph the air drag makes it the cars race.
The car guys hate lookin at your till 150mph though

no one said that it was the fastest, but the m109r is definitely fast (7.50 @ 96.8 mph through the 1/8th mile with a shitty 1.8 60ft in bone stock trim) and it looks great. The rocket 3 is a bad son of a bitch but it looks like a tractor. I'll still take a vmax as the fastest cruiser any day.

Regarding the M109 vs the Rocket
Here is a pretty good unbiased review posted on M109riders.com
http://www.m109riders.com/forum/index.php/topic,24540.0.html
Here is a head to head race between the two, not a big difference at all though the Rocket is ahead by a small margin.
http://media.putfile.com/M109R-vrs-Rocket3
http://www.m109riders.com/forum/index.php/topic,3071.msg38308.html
I would say it is much like the ZX-14 vs. Hyabusa, the driver's skill can make the difference.

Sticks,
You must mean a 2004 Z06 for $25k, GM didn't produce a Z06 in 2005. In 2006 they started building the new C6 Z06.

I forgot they had a lay off year for the Z06. And the 427 Z06 are still quite a bit of money. The Z06 I saw for $25K was the last of the "small displacement" Z06's. Though I could have sworn the ad said 2005...
As far as cars go, the Z06 is still one hulluva bargain for what you get. Which is why I want one for "winter driving" The wife doesnt agree with my choice of "economy car" though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N10raR2ADBE&NR=1 Can a 109 do this. And yes if a cruser dosen't have a v twin and look like a Hardly knock off the american consumer isnt interested. I liked the 109 but wanted something different. Flys out pipes and tune boy gives them about 160 ft. lbs and 155 HP..Mabey a blower would produce that on a 109 if it would stay together..Have fun Be safe..Jack

No problem Jack, this is all good bike talk! I've actually made some pretty awesome launches on my M109, one time pulling a wheely about the first 20 yards. As I stated earlier, the rider with good launching skills can bring a 109 or a Rocket out of the hole just about as fast as any bike, they both have tons of torque. The great thing about owning a 109 and a ZX-14 is, if one won't do the job the other will!! ((( ;
