I don't think i have ever heard of someone with a head gasket problem on a zx14 but i guess anything is possible ....Does it over heat to the point of boiling over? Is it bubbling into the over flow bottle ? I had a problem awhile back with mine puking back into the over flow bottle but it was my screw up ..I switched the two hoses that go to the rad neck ...I had the rad out to do some service work and i put the hoses on the wrong spots .... It would run hotter than before by a bar or so on the gauge ...When i would shut it off it would over flow the overflow tank .. It could be something that simple ....

it does bubble in the overflow tank while running, but does not over fill it. dosent seem to overheat

Check the two small hoses that go to the top of the Rad neck just below the cap ....One hose goes to the over flow bottle and the other goes to the thermostat
housing ..... It should have the over flow bottle hose going to the upper nipple and the lower hose going to the thermostat ....

they are correct. could it be burping air into the overflow? what about the smoke out the exhaust?

Yes it could if a head gasket is blown into a cooling jacket .... Coolant smoke is very white and your exhaust will have a very sweet smell .....Fuel burning would be black ... oil will be blueish white ... But coolant will be bright white .... Take a good smell of the exhaust if it smells sweet you may have a head gasket problem ...This will show up more warm than cold because as the engine gets hotter the PSI in the rad goes up .....

You can check for a blown head gasket by removing the rad cap and start the motor , look for bubbles .... Check this with the motor cold....
