to modify the existing cases maybe a grand (cut the cyl block off) + billet block & pistons another couple grand.
Benefit?
could use offset block, offset stroker crank (another $1500min), MAYBE competition for the big inch Busas.
Worth it?
SURE!!!

You mean to tell me that the cases and the block are all one peice? I could understand from an engineering point it would make a stronger package, but for the aftermarket and maintenance it would be a nightmare plus expensive or would it?

For aftermarket, having a single piece upper half of the cases/cyl block is a pain.
gotta be much cheaper to manufacture. Maybe why all car motors do it???

cbr900rr, gsxr1000, R1 and zx10 all have a one piece design ,but it a big negative when it come to building or cyclinder damage.

This is one of the reasons people will not buy a zx14 ...If the new block is not to costy it could level the playing field...It should also help zx14 sales if guys know about a strong after market support ....The zx14 could end up 30 years from now like the old KZ1000 that are still used at tracks all over the USA..

I think there is some mis understanding here. Jay was talking about billet cases and block. If you guys are saying that you would buy something like this we will make them. There is no way to modify the stock engine cases to a removable cylinder.

why not just build a prostock or top fuel bike.they have nothing to do with a stock bike.
once you replace the oem engine you have a one off engine.put a turbo or supercharger on it and blast off.

billet oil pan $800 , anyone want to guess at what billet cases and block would cost?
I'll bet $4000 min, but should come in different bores so you save $4-500.
I'd be interested in a rough estimate before getting to excited.

IMO won't sell many as I agree it's going to be costly and there's nothing wrong with the stock set up just takes a little more time to put big bore kits in. I suppose if you where running a combo where it needed rebuilt every 20 to 30 passes it would be alot easier having two piece.

I see why our buddy with the zx12 was so hurt when he saw how easy it was for us to change our spark plugs. He could not even find his, just standing there looking pittyful with his wrenchs.
