...so if the bike was never insured, why the comment?

....if you paid cash, you probablly got it a bit cheaper than the price other folks pay for these things off the floor.

Your thread has taken a wierd twist...good luck on the sell.

Definitely sell the extra parts and the bike separately.

Like I said, again, it was a joke. I guess I needed to put a (jk) or an LOL after it. Written word doesn't carry inflection, tone or diction with it. If you'd have heard me say it rather than type it you'd likely have gotten the joke. No matter. BTW paying cash did nothing for me. They knocked only 500 of the bike which means 11,100 plus, frieght, dealer prep, tax etc. I'm not sure how you guys are getting these great deals but I did not. I wanted the blue and they told me that if it was a different color that it would be different but that that was the hot color and they weren't knocking the money off as much. Of course the other side of it is, many people here go look at prices on ebay. Yeah that's great but those bikes say in the fine print...plus, plus, plus this and that. Then you have to ship it and pay the tax on it in your state. My point is you might see a bike new on ebay for under 11k but when you're done you'll easily have 13k or more in it. Just a thought. All my parts were just over 2000 with the GPR steering damper that I forgot to mention in my original post.

You cant expect to recoup your loss of sales tax when selling a bike!! Like I said I can get you whatever color 08 14 here in arkansas for about a 1000 off MSRP. And it is a common misconception that a bike or any vehicle can be bought cheaper when you pay cash!!! I sold cars for several years and it is actually the opposite a dealership typically makes more money when you finance then they do when you pay cash! Dealerships get paid on the interest you pay to the finance company just FYI

selling locally will fetch a much higher price. When I sold my 12, I would have had to drop the bike about $1K to make it a good purchase on the net. Locally, people can see what they are getting and not have to pay the shipping charges, etc. Its nice to sit on a bike and see how well maintained it is before you fork over any cash.

Right now I'm trying to find a 2000-ish 2 dr accord...considering e-bay, but I sure would like to plop my ass down in it and take it for a spin before I purchase from someone online. Moral to the story...someone will buy your bike at the price you are asking IF you're willing to wait on that one person.

theoretically speaking, you can wait it out til you get what you're asking for the bike, or just wait out the storm and consider keeping it. I was willing to let my bike go for much less than I was asking locally, but the right guy came along and bought it for what I was asking. The difference in my situation was that I didn't need to sell the bike, I just wanted to sell it because I didn't ride it anymore. I still wish I would've kept it, the new owner totalled it within a month. I don't miss the extra maintenance, insurance and garage space though.

BTW, wasn't trying to fuel the fire.

One more trick. I do this with everything I sell....

Print out a KBB.com or NADA listing of the bike so they will know how much the bank will lend. I also posted a copy of my original invoice so the buyers could see exactly how much I paid for it. This way they see what extra prices are involved in buying new. Lastly, I posted up a write up of my 2003 zx12 from the internet...in color. You gotta get something that catches the eye as well as feeds the brain. The longer they are there looking at the bike(and reading the info), the longer you have to talk to them and let them know how good the bike really is. Not everything will sell itself, luckily, the 14 is such a damn fine product. Once you get someone interested, talk to them and 'find an angle' that will keep them interested in owning your 14.
