Muzzy Lowering Links

Looking for a little advice on installing links. Does the tail section need to be stabilized or will the suspension brace when the factory links are removed. I have not removed a set of links, so I am curious what the correct procedure is? I have read in other threads that the middle hole is preferred, is this what you suggest.

You will need to stabilize the bike and take pressure off the rear wheel. I would use a wood block on top of a flat plate scissor jack and place it under the rear of the motor or secure spot in the center of the bike and as far to the rear as possible with the front end tied down securely on both sides. Raise the bike just enough so that the rear tire is just off the ground a shade, the tire able to spin but scubbing the surface.. Remove the stock linkage. You will now be able to move the rear wheel up as far as needed to install the lowering link. Location and the amount you lower the bike is personal preference, the center hole will lower you roughly 2", the next hole out will be roughly 3". Remember when lowering the bike back down on the jack that you may need another hand because the the jack will be wedged now. If you have a rear stand, use it after installation of the link and then pull your jack out. Good luck, hope this helps you

I was wondering if you could place brace between tail and rear tire so I can get away without having a lift? Of course this would take two people to succeed.

The problem with that is you will not be able to raise the rear wheel into the fender well to install the link. You are acutually making the wheel base longer to lower the bike, chain adjustment will be in order as well. I forgot to include that in my earlier thread.

I hung my bike from the rafters, using straps hooked to the big accesss holes in the subframe. Be careful, and if you have a frt stand it will stabilize and balance the bike whil you have the rear hanging.

You will need the ability to move the swingarm and rear wheel up and down to algin the links with the swingarm mount.
Hanging , or lifting are the only good way to do this.
