Tricking the speedo?

Hey guys, I just recently bought my sprocket and want to put it on but i dont have a speedo healer. A buddie of mine that races a stroked Bandit and Busa said that i might be able to trick the comp by taking the trigger wheel off and cutting teeth off of it. Is this true and has anyone actually done it....Cause i am just trying to save money. Thanks again.

The counter-sprocket nut has four flat sides that is used with the reader. You can file one of the flats round to up the top end limiter but your speedo will be off approx. 25%.
My son has done this on his 14 and it works.

It's very simple. You take the number of sprockets you have purchased, and subtrack them from the number on the stock sprockets. If you have a positive number you use the sine of the speed you are traveling. If you have a negative number you use the co-sine of the speed. No need to cut any teeth--
