H E L P!!! Just came from Suzuki dealership need input!!

Just came from suzuki where I bargained and have come to an agreement of $4000 and my 06 zx14 as a trade. I thought that was pretty damn good deal. Now I had both bikes side by side and i just can't decide which i like best. No doubt the fit and finish on the suzuki makes the zx14 look like a kit bike. None of my panels line up worth a shit. Anyways I have until tomorrow saturday to decide to take the deal or go for the 08 zx14 which i've checked with local dealers and there tellin me March 08. Oh ya definitely changing the oil on the ZX14 is a breeze compared to the busa. I have no clue how to get at the filter without removing some panels way to tight. INPUT please!

buy both.
i personally would not buy another zx14. i like to try different bikes. i had a 06 zx14 and now 07 and will keep my 07 for a while till i get tired of it ... then is time for another bike.
08 busa , i have not yet seen one in person, checked couple local dealers and no one has one, all sold out. the only thing stop me from buying a 08 busa is the back of it and i have to see it in person and if i like it that would be my next bike.

Either will make you a great new bike ...I pick the zx14 over the Busa because i just can't stand the look of that 60s VW tail ....Sounds like 4k trade is a good deal for the Busa .... What kind of price did you get trade for a 08 zx14 ?

I agree with you both the tail is UGLYYYYY the only good things is its behind you when you ride and I like better the instruments on the 14. The lighting system on the 14 especially the high beams are amazing. But the fit and finish on the busa compared to the 14 superb. My panels don't line up worth a shit on my 06.

The '08 14's are in stores now.... At least here in southwest Virginia. And the paint, fit, and finish are much better on the '08.

Suzuki will give me $10,000 for my bike because there a car/bike dealership! This dealership is a high volume and I know the bike dealership hate them because the kill the suzuki sales for them. I don't know how they do but I bought my 05 gsxr1000 from them and the bike shops could match them. The bike shops the best i was looking at was about $8500.00 for the 06 zx14.

10,000 for your bike as a trade holly cow..
that means they are selling you the busa including tax and title for 14000.
thay overallow on your trade but thay are selling you the busa way over sticker. what is the tax rate there and what are other fees added to it? you know when you trade, you save bunch on tax, you actually did not pay alot on tax.
i am not sure it is the same in canada or not.

The Busa in Canada lists for $15,200 and got them down to $12,999. The 08 zx14 is $15,100.00.

Yup so much for the Canadian dollar being higher than the US and all our prices supposedly dropping on cars they have dropped $5000 -$7000 dollars in the last month because of the high canadian peso but don't see the savings on the bikes and they should actually be online with US prices now.

I dont see where the panels don't line up on any 14 as a matter of fact the 14 has stainless harware thru-out the bike where the busa has plastic clips that break off...I have always liked suzukis i have owned many over the years a i gotta admit the kawasaki is much easyier to work on as far as maintanence goes...And the 14 has a lot better LCD information or i should more information...And the head lights are far better than any bike i have owned even better than my goldwing 1800...Riding the busa at least the 07 is a beast compared to the very refined feel of the 14...To me it feels only a little larger than my GSX1000 does on the street and only a little less flickable on the canyons...Unless you are only into drag racing you should stick with the 14 and leave that ugly i mean ugly busa at the shop...Good luck....

I saw the dark blue/gold sazook at the dealership when I picked up the R1 and I couldn't beleive how nice the bike is. (except the rear)

I suspect their will be aftermarket stuff to replace that whole tail soon.

I agree with you Jeff and I looked at oil filter changes on Busa and not sure they can be down with removing side panel. On my honda's and Suzuki's they been hard but you can do with the factory cap to remove the filter with removing any panels you just have to patient and play with it. The new Busa i don't know if even thats possible the 14 is a snap to remove filter. My beef with the panels is where the fairing and air cleaner/tank cover meet really bad there. Knit picking i know but bugs me. Yup 14 lights amazing and instrumention really seem better than the busa by far don't like the analog gas guage on the busa either. Well worse thing is if I get it and don't like see what kawi does for the 09 14 lol. I've asked Bently for a riding impression on both for the street since he now has ridden both hopefully he will come thru for me lol.

I don't agree with Jeff at all except on the headlight! The panels on my 14 also lined up like shit with different gaps from side to side and it was not only on mine as I checked all the 14s that we sold. getting to the aircleaner is way more time consuming on the 14. I've also owned 3 busas and never broke any clips at all. the 08 busa also handles better ten the 99 07 years it handles better then my 14 did in the curves. just installed full exhaust on my busa and not one broken clip.

Thanks Bently for your info on the handling and my riding consists mostly of highway riding and the occasional twisties with the guys i ride with who mostly have 1000's where they take of on me on the twisties but rail them in on the straights fast. So i think I'm goin to try the Busa for 08. Hey do you need to remove panels for oil filter change or can u squeeze thru the fairing holes?

As far as ease of maintenance, the priority of the design was performance over ease.

Drawbacks to each design? The sazook is obviously more difficult to change the oil. But, after looking at the new Suzuki in the shop the other day I can say one thing. It doesn't appear the oil pan bolt will be scraped and caught on trailers and such and beat up like the one hanging super low on the 14.

4k to trade up is a great deal! I suspect that you could do that same deal on a new 14 as well.

It will be easier to change oil with fairing off, but they come off real easy IMO.

I talked to my local dealer today and I can trade even but I have to leave all the stuff on my bike (he has a buyer that wants my bike bad!!) I told him to pucker up and kiss this!! he said he would trade for 2500 returning my bike to stock but I think I am going to wait I just have SO MUCH time and money invested in this bike I hate to get rid of it!! I thought about trading in one of my zx10's but just see no point in having 2 14's

FBA i;ve checked the few bikes shops left in toronto fuck Mcbrides is gone atter 95yrs, Cycle world closed this august for good where i bought my 14 and brampton cycle closed last summer i don't know wtf is happening to the bike shops here. These were shops that have been around forever brampton cycle was the least amount of time in business like 27 yrs. I know Suzuki allowing bikes in there car dealerships killed sales for suzuki in the bike dealerships. So the only dealership close to me is only getting 08 14's in march and they will only give me $8500 for my 14 which only has 6000 miles on it. When i asked them about the best deal on a 08 14 all they did was quote me the list price $15,100 and i asked them about 08 busa's and they are sold out for 08.

Shawnski always wanted a busa but b4 getting back to sportbikes I rode harlies. When i got tired of them went to 1100XX, 954RR, 03 gsxr1000, 05 gsxr1000 and when they didn't update the BUSA again for 06 and the ZX14 came out i bought that. I have nothing bad to say about it and since they finally updated the busa I figure why not. The tail is ugly but so are the grills on the 14. Hey after awhile you don't notice anymore. If I go ahead with the deal I can pick up the Busa on monday which gives me the winter to change exhaust and fool around with it. They have all three colors in stock ready to go but I think i'm going with the orange/black combo.
