Not supposed to from what I heard, but in the 4 times I started it since yesterday, I heard it once and yes, it was the same exact sound as my 06; cam chain tensioner.

Fury, it's snowing a bit here too, but I rode her in to work anyway...idiot that I am and it's now -3c, but the snow isn't staying on the ground and it's not even wet. I figure I'm usually good to -5 max and that's when I call it quits. Last year, I rode every single month somehow...

You must be in good with the dealer to get that kind of trade. Trade in is only around 7000.00. we sold our leftover 07 for 9900.00

Congrats FBA..................tempting to put my '06 up for sale. The '08's sound like the way the bike should have come out in the first place. Maybe Kawasaki knows how many owners are yanking the flies and decided to 'fix' the problem and save people the hassle of doing this.

My youngest will be in University next fall, so with 2 kids in University in total, a new bike will have to wait for awhile. Or I could be bastard and say sorry, kids, I spent your tuition money!

I still really enjoy the '06.

Who knows what '09 and beyond might bring.

Congrats FBA,
I agree with you on break-in, I feel most bikes are broken in at the factory anyway. One of the shop guys that I have a great deal of respect once told me that engines are pretty much broken in by 200 miles. Then explained further that as long and your always adjusting your throttle for the first 200 miles all should be good. I got the puss miles covered and the only bike I've ever had that failed was my 02 VFR and that was due to a bad stator after 96,000 miles. These engines are pretty bullet proof. Enjoy

Thanks -- and BTW, that was a known problem on the VFR's -- there was a recall on that.

FBA, you want to hear something interesting? The Stator was covered under warranty but the labor was not. WHY? Well after I talked to Honda of Canada they told me that all Canadian VFR's (most motorcycles sold in Canada) are going to have higher output stators than their American counterparts. They know the riding season is short and that some of the riders want heated Vests, gloves etc so my 02 VFR (From Canada) had a good stator all along. It just died a natural death at 96,300 miles. Can't complain it only showed signs of failure once in the time I owned her, and that was after my hi-side crash. The bike sat for a month.

damn ya'll , your making me want a zx14 again . I had a black '07 for 9000 miles that developed an ANNOYING (deep) engine knock after I wrote the check for it, So I traded it for a C14 ABS , love the bike , but if I could get a decent price for it i would go for the '08 zx14
