She's finally here and home now!

Well, I just got the 08 14 today...holy fuck!!

...and I thought they couldn't make a smoother running engine than my 06!! The 08 is smoother and has ZERO vibration, at any speed, but that might just be that particular engine compared to MY 06.

I see that the flies are definitely opening much, much sooner, enough to spin the back tire at 2500 in 1st now (though they're brand new tires and the outside temp was only 30...LOL

It feels to me as if the flies are mirroring the primary's now, with a very slight delay in the lower gears. Punch at at 3500 in 1st and 2nd and this fucker hauls ass. They feel like they're wide open in the rest of the gears, at any RPM. Had they done this in 06/07, there wouldn't have been any need to remove them at all and personally, I doubt I'll even bother. What I've noticed, is that they open very low now, but not the instant you crack the throttle; more like a 1/2 second after though, which is fine. It eliminates any jerky throttle response, but pulls like hell now. It's a bit harder for me to be more precise as the 06 had 16/43's and I'm still stock on the 08,till the sprockets arrive anyway...so it's hard to compare.

The whole engine feels like its pulling harder and breathing easier than my 06 did.

I'm sure once the sprockets are in, she'll be pulling harder (even without a PC3 installed) than my 06 ever did, -- and that was fucking brutal, to be truthful. I'm not even sure that this bike would benefit much from a PC3, truthfully. I remember that my 06 was dead till 6K RPM, the day I got it from the dealer. This is hardly the same bike. It's not only the flies, but the exhaust head work that makes this fucker go. It pulls like no tomorrow right till 10K+!!!

Well, it's got only 12 miles on the clock and it's too fucking cold to ride more now, but I'll have a chance to do that tomorrow or Saturday. It's too dark to get any pics right now, but I'll post up this weekend. That Sapphire blue is almost black, but it's gorgeous! It sparkles in the dark with the slightest amount of light on it and there's a lot of silver flake in the paint. Me likes...

Shawnski -- it's not the cold -- was the same temp when I rode the 06 to the dealer yesterday; it's the bike -- and it only has a few miles on it!! Wait till I get to 5K miles and the 16/43's....ouch!

Reynolds -- you're right; I have no mercy

If you want slow, break it in slow. If you want fast; break it in fast:P

How about guys like Brock and Ricky Gadson, who put 'em on the Dyno and pin 'em at zero miles? These engines are run at the factory for several minutes on the Dyno, doing WOT runs before they get to us...so just think about that! I've been to HD in York PA and I've seen what they do to the bikes before they leave there...

My last 06 was broken in the same way -- and guess what...it never so much as farted it's whole life. IT PULLED HARD FOREVER WITH ZERO ISSUE AT 22K when I brought her in this week and said goodbye...

Every motor I ever had got that treatment and never had an issue so, while it may not be for everyone, it works well for me.

FBA - this is what I've been waiting for - confirmation that it's not my imagination about the power compared to the 06!

I also rode my 06 to the dealer and rode the 08 away, so there was a very short time that elapsed between rides. It's not only the full throttle response, but just going through the gears at part throttle. In nearly 600 miles, and a lot of that winding roads, and a bunch of shifts, I've never missed a shift, but I *thought* I did a couple of times - from 3rd to 4th at about 3500 rpms. It was pulling about as hard in 4th as it had been in 3rd. On the 06, there was no doubt that the power dropped between shifts at the lower rpms.

The "hit" at 6000 seems to be gone, probably what the flyless guys have been feeling for some time. Also, the 06 pulled so hard from 6000 up that my butt-o-meter is not calibrated enough to say if there is more peak power - the dyno will tell the story there.

The paint! I admit that I wasn't wild about it until the dealer offered to take it out into the sunlight, then my attitude changed! I love the fade-to-black effect looking from the sun to the shade.

BTW, Congrats on the new bike!

Didja notice that the instrument display and the functions of the 2 buttons are different? I had to get out the owners manual for a sanity check.

Lucky, I was flyless and -1 front /+2 rear on my 06, so it pulled insanely hard, more than the 08 the way it sits now, but I can tell you that when my 06 was running stock sprockets (flyless), it still didn't pull like the 08...and when I do the sprockets, the 08 will still pull harder than the 06 did. Nice thing about the 08, is that the flies actually do work to make the bike smoother while offering tons more power! I'll see if I pull them when I have some seat time after the sprockets are done...meantime, a PC3 might be forthcoming in the event that I pull 'em...

I haven't played with the buttons; just rode it home in the freezing cold and parked it, so I couldn't tell you anything more about the bike, except how it rode. I'll go rtfm now:d

OK -- done rtfm now -- the display now works like the C14...you can finally stop that fuckass display from that stupid low fuel shit... and see other stuff on it while you're runnin' outta gas

Not much more to say about the bike Smokin' -- except that you'll be doing a few tenth's less on it...I'm sure about that! She really does have more power all across the band now, noticeably!!

I should hide the bottle, get my head ported and ask my 08 busa friends whats wrong with their bikes?
Tell them I think their birds must be sick, cause everyone know the 08 busa is faster than an 06 zx14......

nuthin like twisting their minds after you break their backs!

the busa guys still beleive the 07 busa was faster than the zx14, so they can believe all they like...

seeing is believing...

here is a good sight... one they will see more often than they like....>>>
