So what happened to this thread then?

I've been away for a few weeks and it looks like it died, or has it?

Make sure you tell Ropeman his numbers have to be in MPH not KPH.

Is it just me, or did this post set a record for amount of replies and pages posted in such a short time? Then it died away just as fast. I for one wanted to see him post his numbers up, even if they were as slow as you guys all figured they would be. Oh well... back to posting about squeeking brakes and broken frames....

This was the original bet....

Finally - the tone of this thread is getting more friendly..... let's keep it fun.

Ropeman - I woud really like to see you start racing at the track - it is a great alternative - as the streets are no place to play with such powerful machines. I have raced for years - always on a track - and it is the place to play.

So I would like to offer you a challenge - to get you up to speed in this game. Here is the deal. Last week I ran my best ever run at the dragstrip - a 9.84. This of course is not all that good of an ET compared to those set-up for drag racing. Now this run was at Pittsburgh - a track at 1500' elevation - much slower than any of the tracks in your area. I weight around 230lbs with leathers. So you should have a major advantage from a weight perspective - as the old saying goes - weight is horsepower. My bike is stock engine and stock wheelbase - never opened - and set-up for Land Speed Racing. It is geared very high - so I actually do the quarter in three gears, so there is very little to worry about your launching skills - your previous experience should put you quicker out of the hole - my 60' time was 1.88 on this pass. Since we are both set up for top speed - you should have no real issue.

Now here is the problem. I practice for Maxton at the drag strip - a safe and managed facility. But in the two years that I have been doing this - running in many events - I have never won even one dollar. So I want to give you the opportunity this weekend to see if you can beat my speed - and I would like to bet you $1 that you can't beat my top speed on that run - and if you lose - you post a picture of you with the dollar - and I want you to write The Tin Man - Fast as Lightning - sign it and send it to me. If you win - I will get you a custom hat made that will declare that you are Faster than Lightning - with your top speed memorialized on it. This would be a friendly way to give you a challenge to see if you can run with a 14. Note: Bike is stock engine, (no NOS), stock wheelbase - and I have done everything I know to make it fast beyond the engine. You can see my numbers in the Maxton logs for Sept, 06, May and Jne of 07 - or www.speedtrialsbybub.com for Bonneville under FlatOut Racing #5711 and 5751.

So if you would like to take on a stock 14 - for a friendly bet - to get some bragging rights - here is your chance. I am expecting that you will deal with honor - you can use your fastest slip from the event - no NOS , stock wheelbase and engine - look up a Test and Tune or race day - there is a track near Orlando as well as West Palm - do a search on IHRA or NHRO drag strips in FL. I will publish my time slip when you bring in yours. So- are you up for it - if so we can lock it in - in a friendly kind of way.

Kevin

well post it anyways lol.
If you want a site to keep your pics online, try "Facebook.com". It's owned by Microsoft, so besides the occasional blue screen of death (j/k) its safe and up front. Sign up and import your pics, it's really easy. than once they are on Facebook, you right click on the photo, left click on 'properties', and highlite the 'Address (URL)', left click highlighted area and pick "Save" option for it. Then post it, using the rightclick and "paste" option inside of the {IMG} {/IMG} icons. I had to use the "{ }" brackets to show you, use the "[ ]" brackets in real life.

lol or just email it to me lol
