the only thing missing on that K12 is luggage, ABS, and a little ole lady with grey hair.

oh its a nice bike, but performance wise it doesn't belong in the same pic as the other two.

I dunno, steve. BMW made a big deal outta Nurburgring (sp?) record times. Faster than an R1 because it wasn't as wheelie-prone outta the corners. Some Brit rags liked (at the time of intro) the suspension better than the competitors. It's not fast, tho, compared to something like the 14. IIRC, the top end is only like 165MPH. I was seriously considering it (I already owned 2 BMW bikes plus really like my local dealer), but then the ZX-14 was announced and I put a deposit down immediately.

The Beamer has mad sex appeal. I saw one of the silver(w/yellow accents) ones at a BMW ride and fell in love with it. I'd like to have one in the stable. Maybe not as powerful as the others, but in the right hands(not mine), it has put down crazy times at that track in Germany.

Not true Steve...the K is a very fast and superb handling bike; it absolutely does stay in class with the other 2. I've ridden them all...K12 is a fucking monster bike! Yes the ZX and the Busa are faster, but that 12 is an unbelievable handler as well-- and it's not exactly slow. It also has some great brakes, albeit the ZX can't be beat there.

I've got a k12r.

Wanted a 14 but a "lightly used" one came around that was priced right. No dealer prep, destination charges really made it too good to refuse.

Still want a 14 (or a busa), hell I'm on this site almost as much as the BMW sites.

Yes, it's fast but probably a half step slower than the real Factory BIG BLOCKS. Top speed is no comparison. (At least that's what I'm going to say here).

Yes, it handles well, but BMW crippled it with a crusier like wheelbase and a VERY conservative rake. Great for drag racing and will shoot you out of a curve, but not ideal for tight twisties. It's almost +4 inches on the literbike wheelbases!

The FI is snatchy at low speeds and the trans has been failing on a disturbingly large number of bikes. BMW now undercuts the dogs on the newer bikes, I think.

You guys made the right decision...

For those that think the price is too high, KR's a year old are going for less than 10K.

FBA a friend of mine has a K12, not near the power of the 14 or busa I ride. Yes its much more nimble than the big bikes but it still doesn't handle like the 600 track bike.

Sex appeal was mentioned, and ya the K12 is full of it

I've nothing against the bike but in the article it wasn't in the same class of power to rate it with the 14 or busa. The article could've just said the two fastest bikes, then the one that handles better Had it been up with an R1 and a Gixxer 1000, it've been better matched both HP and handling

I wasn't knocking the bike just the artcle
