Kawasaki Motors Corp, U.S.A. to Offer XM Satellite Radio

Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA will introduce its first motorcycles with satellite radio this fall through a partnership with XM, the nation's leading satellite radio company.

Kawasaki will offer an all-new, state-of-the-art Premium Audio System on its VulcanT 1600 Nomad touring model. This new system will incorporate XM as an option.

Customers will be able to tune into more than 170 XM channels of music, sports, talk, news, and entertainment. Kawasaki motorcycles sold with XM radios installed will offer three-months of complimentary XM radio service.

"Kawasaki buyers will now be able to enjoy XM, the greatest variety of entertainment on the radio, on the road," said Joe Verbrugge, XM senior vice president, automotive accounts and international operations. "Kawasaki customers can now hear commercial-free music, live sports, breaking news, or traffic and weather reports for major cities on XM, wherever they travel
from coast to coast."

Jim Williams, senior manager of accessories at Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA adds "This Premium Audio System is a high-quality system built to Kawasaki's specifications designed to greatly enhance our customers' ownership experience. As the pioneer in satellite radio, XM represents a terrific value-added feature to the system."

I think every channel on both sirius and xm have commercials now. both services advertise themselves unrelentlessly on all of the channels.

I've had XM for years and the music channels never had commercials... they still dont. The talk channels like CNN always had commercials and they still do. Unclear as to what you guys are talking about.

It would've been great to have XM on the Connie!!!

Tune sirius to chan 1 top 40 hits and listen to all the ADVERTISING of sirius radio every 3 - 4 songs. maybe thats still considered commercial free since they're only advertising themselves.

Sirius and XM both suck...unless you have a factory installed unit, you loose signal each time ya fuckin' fart fer fuck's sake, not to mention the awful sound ya get...not even close to MP3 quality, which is low by comparison to CD quality...and ya gotta pay monthly fer that? Fuck that noise!

HD radio's the future anyway...

you must be using the FM instead of an audio out cable from your satellite receiver directly into the stereo head unit

+1 clear here. FM didn't work for me, but the direct cable rocks.

I use direct cable, but the general quality of sat radio isn't much better than FM radio...you still have loads of compression, which makes it sound like shit, like FM. I don't use those crappy FM modulators...they really suck bad. My IPOD, or nuvi w/ MP3 player sounds way better. Anyway, what I was referring to, was the inability to hang on to signal. OEM radios pickup ground station transmitters for XM in most major cities, which broadcast in FM, alongside the Sat signal, so you don't lose signal, even through tunnels,. but the after-market radios that you install into the vehicle don't have that capability and depend only on the sat signal, so they lose signal at the drop of a hat or when going through tunnels or under bridges etc...or when ya fart...

I have an OEM Sat radio and any time I get near a tree (a LOT of them here) I get drop-outs and it takes a few seconds to re-stream. I agree with FBA the sound sucks, I won't subscribe as my free 6 months are over.

Should not do that if it's OEM, unless you're not served by ground stations, which I doubt...should be seamless, but ya, the sound sucks anyway...

You must be getting the Canadian version of XM! Listen to channel 7, a music channel. Hear all those plugs that say all music all the time-XM radio? that is a commercial, they are selling themselves to you. Hear the plug telling you to tune into channel whatever on a certain day to hear a special program, that is a commercial. If it isn't music, it is a commercial, plain and simple .

I have both, and the XM receivers are all deactivated. Sirius has better programming for my interests, AND the reception in my neck of the woods is superior to XM..
