Gold zinc electroplating.

Does anyone know if there are any pitfalls to getting the rear sprocket, and brake disk gold zinc electoplated?

Having the local thugs mistake your components for being gold dipped, and jacking your ride.

You mean the disk hub or the disc itself? Zinc on the disc will contaminate your pads and significantly reduce your braking action until it wears off. As far as the sprocket goes, most people get the new hardened Al alloy Vortech's and anodize them or have the seller do it.

Err yah. I had Vortech on the brain I guess - I'm helping a friend install a centrifugal in a 'Stang this weekend.

Call me a woos, (sooky la-la/big girl etc), but I kinda like the wear advantage the oem sprocket has over the Vortex etc (thanks for the link stevewfl). I don't want to toothe it up either. It's not short on guts, and on long runs, I like it's longer legs. Is the only advantage to the non-oem sprockets the un-sprung weight, or is there other advantages also, apart from looking nicer ?
