somebody said 176 h/p for the zx 1400
thats 1 h/p more and 11 or 12 lbs more weight for the busa will that make it faster? somebody else said 195 h/p at the crank for the busa vs 190 h/p for the zx 1400..what will the air.... do for each bike.

splitting hairs... its all rider , they are all good bikes these days.

All rider IMO !

I like the fact that the Busa has the great benchracing reputation for me to smash!

The fact is that a good percentage of the busa owners have no clue how to ride as they bought the bike on its reputation and as another staus symbol to park in their garages.... thats fine as long as they park their mouths if they can't ride!

Competition is a good thing... but don't waste my time if ya got no game!

Can ya tell i hate motormouths?

There's pros and cons for both bikes as I've thought about just about every detail to see what bike would be better suited for me...

In all honesty performance will be too close to call...The edge may go to the ZX14 in the 1/4 mile because of the clutch but everywhere else all things being equal it will probably be very very close....

So aside from performance the ZX14 may be the better bike for the average riding enthusiast for these reasons....

ZX14 is

easier to work on
more comfortable
excellent brakes
features on the gauges
Smooth engine

Hayabusa

IMHO a little sportier looking
better areodynamics (maybe)

Practically speaking, since performance is about equal the ZX14 is probably the better all around bike because of it's other advantages that can be added to the equation.

That's only true up to a point.
After a while It takes ALOT more money to make the KAW go faster.

Yes i agree!
The busa will be eaisier to work on, the zx14 has about 30 screws to remove to get to the entire engine.... my single biggest gripe....

The busa definately has the best aerodynamics, that was tested by one of the major rags couple of months ago, and it had all the bikes beat by a good margin.

The busa likely will have more torque since the kawi engine is more oversquare, old busa already had better flowing head, and almosty as good as spencer zx14 head.
With any luck the 08 zx14 head will be dramatically better.
If not .... the 14 owners will be having to open their wallets....

It will be really close, witht the zx14 edging out the busa in accelleration to 160 mph, and the busa edging out the zx14 in 160- 186 mph wher the aerodaynamics take effect,
roll ons will be interesting...

I love my zx14.

Update from Brock regarding the Busa:

Just bolting on the Gen 3 pipe on pump gas with no power commander. 193hp

I think numbers are already posted somewhere?

I do have a power commander, but I'm not going to post any type of final results until I get back to MY DYNO. My bike made 180 RWHP as a base here at Hindle vs. my 177.5 at home.....BUT- I added Alisyn <<0 oil at Atco....so I think the HP numbers here are right on.

We haven't even though about ANY other mods- good gas, remove air cleaner, ceramic bearing etc. We are just concentrating on making the most HP possible from the pipe only right now.

Really... the two bikes are both monsters and it will be down to experience as which one will dust the other. I happen to love the smooth ride from a Kawi and the look of a Kawi. I got a chance to ride a 07 Busa this summer and I was distressed by the buzz in the handlebars at high speeds, and I miss my "Cadillac" feeling ride of my Kawi. Perhaps it was just the bike I was riding... but it still flew regardless.

Ummmmm...Yes.....basic maintenance IS easier...For folks that are familiar with the design of both bikes, If I'm saying the ZX14 is easier to work on it doesn't take a study in particle physics to figure out what I mean and that I'm obviously not talking about major engine work...

Common sense.

what are referring to then?
Changing tires, oil changes and braske pads etc... they are all the same for both bikes!

valve adjustments, spark plug changes are easier on the busa...

what maintenance are you refering to then?

I thought this topic was settled and the distinction was made between the zx14 and busa by what is meant by "easier to work on" a long time ago...
