I nominate Smokin'
to represent the ZX-14 in the new AMA Prostar exhibition class Real Street. There was not a single 14 making a showing in this class at ATCO. What's up with that? Gainesville is coming up on November 9-11. What do you say?

That's close to home for him! There may be a few more zx14 ready for the Real Street class by Gainsville!

Smokin should go and compete with the ZX14.
There were only 6 competitors in Atco, NJ
8.63 won the class.
With Smokin weighing less than 180lbs he would have to shorten his bikes wheelbase to 60inches according to the rules. Thats when riding gets tricky, but smokin can manage.
Smokin shorten that thing up, set it on kill and as you always say go get some seat time.

Guys thank you BUT my zx14 is to slow for that class ...You will need to run 8.20s to 8.30s to be in the game . Remember at my weight the rules say i can only be 60 inch wheel base ..My little 8.70s and 8.80s were done at 62 1/2 inches...
Now if someone wants me to ride their turbo bike at 60 inch i'll be happy to give it a shot ...  ....Smokin

I prefer vertically challenged! Either way I should be OK when it comes time to way in for 201! Shooting for 205 to 210 just in case the scales way light!

With the new length to weight rule, the times have slowed down . #1 qualifier 8.631, best pass of the weekend 8.604.
Not sure what they pay?

I would love to do it as well! But like smokin said, our bikes are not strong enough for that event. First of all, I am smaller than smokin so what would my wheel base have to be? I am 5'9" and I weigh 132lbs soak and wet. My fastest 8th mile on this bike is 5.83 on motor, footshifting, and pump gas. So I am willing and ready. Hell I'd do it and just take my chance with the nitrous.

Hell I could probably do that. We'll see tomorrow. Going to the track again, no changes since the last time except my balls have grown a bit. I'll work on the launch, and if the track is hooking up good, and the front end doesn't come up too bad at 130, I'll crank the boost up a bit.

Maximum wheelbase is as follows:
Riders Weight Wheelbase
0-180lbs 60 inches
181-200lbs 62 inches
201+lbs 64 inches
Rider Weigh-in: All riders will be weighed at the time of initial tech-in prior to qualifying. The weight recorded by tech at this time will be the official weight for the entire event. During weigh-in, each rider is allowed to wear a shirt, shorts, and socks, with all pockets empty. No shoes, hats, excessively sized jewelry, etc may be worn. Any attempt by a rider to conceal any hidden weight will result in immediate disqualification for the event. If tech is not familiar with any rider, a state-issued picture ID may be required to verify the identity of the person weighing in.

They have super street for all the light riders. I believe this class was setup to even the playing field. The lighter riders still have a 4 to 6 tenth advantage on weight over riders at 201 or more. 4 inches shorter length is worth about 4 tenths. If anything the advantage still goes to the riders 20 or more pounds under 180! So one might also suggest it should be more like 6 inches? Being they have kept super street it really does not put riders under 180 at any kind of disadvantage other than maybe getting out run by an old fat guy with a longer wheelbase in real street? I believe Prostar has noticed how many fast street bikes show up for the races but don't bother racing due to the disadvantage of not being a light weight. Had they done this in super street I would have been on your side! I think Prostar has final realized how much time, effort and money it takes to prepare to run a class. This is likely why they started Real Street instead of changing Super Street. I applaud their efforts and plan to do my best to support the class next season!

Can you run a 2 stage lockup in that class? i thought you couldnt. and if you weight 120lbs, you should have a 48in wheelbase and a passenger :-) lol

It reads like the lockup is not allowed. Which I don't really understand, but if that's the rule, I can put in a little heavier springs! It just much more cost effective and safer with the lockup! But I can live with it!
48 inch,,,,, that would be a unicycle? Now that might be interesting to watch even without a passenger!

Super street allows the lock up but there is a turbo size restrictions? I will find out for sure on the lockup, the pictures of the bikes running in the class have the lockup covers on their bikes. So I am not totally sure the are not allowed. I will call them and get it confirmed!
