Too lean??
Goldish color on the exhaust tips (Brock Gen III system)....am I running too lean? I bog at WOT in the higher gears at lower revs and I'm thinking my PC3 just ain't working right...it might explain the bogging if I were running lean. Any thoughts? Smokin -- ya there?

checking the spark plugs will be a better indicator of your af ratio.

Shawnski, it is right at the tip of the tailpipe. The can is fine. The plugs were just changed and they are perfect in color. I have just been trying to figure out why the bogging occurs...and thought that maybe it was too lean. I have run leaner maps and they tend to make the engine run noticably hotter, so I doubt I really am running lean, just curious though. I'll keep looking for answers...thanks guys!

fastestbusaaround what map ? My street map and race map both ran black at the tip with Junk 89 pump gas ...Brock said that is not really rich but the junk they add to pump gas makes it look that way .. I would start of by resetting the throttle setting on the P/C then reload your map with a fresh one off you Home P/C or lap top ....It should not have a bog in it anywhere in the power band .....

Thanks Lee...when I say "bog" -- what I mean is this: I can be travelling say around 75 in 5th or 6th...I apply 1/4 throttle and she pulls hard, very hard, but if I hammer it WOT instantly without 1st loading the throttle, it will take off, but you can feel a slight hesitation until it starts to pull a lot harder, almost like Turbo lag. It feels like it's winding up before it goes. It's probably not something you'd see on the strip...as you're likely at WOT most of the time and you're probably not letting go much. Once you load the throttle with about 1/4-1/3 throttle, then you WOT quickly, there's no delay and if you just continue through the gears under heavy throttle, there's also no lag. At RPM's over 6-7K or so, there's also no apparent lag/bog. In any case, it's ever so slight, but noticable.
BTW, on my pipe, it's the outside of the tip that gets the goldish color, the inside is black of course.
I'm using his GEN III no sec street map. I've used his track map but nothing much really changes. I've used a leaner map and the temp rises quicker...I've also reset the TPS and reloaded the maps; no difference. The PC3 works...but is it actually running according to the loaded values or are these values correct for this particular bike? I can't be sure and I don't want to Dyno the bike to find out.

The colors on my tail pipe are exactly as you describe Steve.
I would reload the map, and reset/ zero your tps on the PC3 1st.
Then i would check the plugs, and caps.
I have seen plug boots pop off, and they worked fine, still sparked except under the highest load, which would be when you wack it open initially in a tall gear, at low rpm......
Funny how the spark will take the path of least resistance, and dependant on cylinder load/ combustion pressure that may be to ground one moment, and then through the plug the next...
Has it only done this since the plug change?
They have started oxygenating/ diluting the fuel at the pumps yet again in my area, for the colder weather... addding butane...
The butane is to aid in cold starts in winter they say, but in truth they dilute the shit out of the fuel and this lowers the refining costs, and lowers the MON octane rating.
Mine has a slight knock for a millisecond due to the cold weather.. added oxygen, and all the butane in the fuel ... could be what your feeling...
Try leaving and intersection with the clutch out around 2000 rpm and wack it open... listen for detonation.... could just be bad fuel...
