Comparing the 08 Busa to the 06/07 14 is no different than the 99/07 Busa and the 00/05 ZX12R. I had a 12R and spanked them Busa's then and I'll keep the blowout going with my 07 14 vs 08 Busa! I ain't skeered!!!! Besides, that thing is still FUGLY......well atleast I want see the rear after the launch......LMAO

good point, brock abused the 14 from the start with absolutely no special treatment, heck he has to mod a 08 busa just to run even with a 06 14

Check your math ...Brock at Vegas ( 3500 Feet DA ) ran 144.52 on his last pass on a Totaly Stock zx14 ...NO strap, not lowered , Not one single mod .... Thats a 5 MPH difference not 7 MPH ... I agree 149 is flying but it's not a stock bike anymore ...Once that clutch mod was added it's no longer a stock engine ..
I think in the end mod for mod the new busa will ET and MPH a bit better than a 06 or 07 zx14 and it should because as we have seen on the dyno it makes somewhere around 7 to 8 hp more than the old zx14 ... The real test will be 08 Busa Vs 08 zx14 same day same rider ....

5 mph for 2500 ft elevation difference is damn near equal in my mind....
the 08' zx 14 should fix that....

i would have liked to see him take a showroom bike n not a suzuki press bike that way we know it is a production bike in the past manufacturers tend to tweak the press bikes

with all big advertising and money spending suzuki does in magazines, it is clear that all bike magazines will favor for 08 busa vs.08 zx14. they have done it in past many times.

that is true for sure. just like the 175 hp mags were reporting on the 14. we all love the 14 but we know those numbers are not correct.

Gadson said that the 08 14 "stands up" at 3K. My guess is that all they've done for low end and mid range, is open the secondary flies early in the lower gears, rather than opening them up fully at 7k as on the 06/07 bikes. That would have been the easiest and cheapest way to "gain" more power in those ranges. I'm curious to know what they've done to get more on top though...anyone know what the peak HP is? They state the max TQ as 113.5 and it hasn't changed since the 2 previous years; that's why I'm assuming they've just remapped the fly opening.

The specs said that they did some head work to the new 08 ZX14. From the flow #'s I saw on the 06/07 models there is plenty of room for improvement.

Cool 203 with ram air at the crank Vs 197 HP at the crank with ram air on the 06 and 07..Looks like a 6 HP jump for 08 .... They did list the torq the same at 7500 113.58 but what is not shown is the torq numbers
down low in the power curve where it really counts ...
We will have to wait till someone like Brock get on the dyno to see the hole story ...

So still less than the Busa, considering that the Busa was 198 WITHOUT Ram air...but if the TQ curve is stronger than the Busa...that could be serious gains. Do we know the TQ numbers on the 08 Busa?

I still dont like how the busa looks with that big hump,but im sure somebody is going get one and stretch it to the next town and put a big tire on the back.Wow wont that be cool.not!

I bleed green so it is hard for me to say that I hope the Busa does well. But I do, that way all the punks and posers can continue to buy and talk about Busa's. There is no doubt that this bike will be fast and there is no doubt that it will outsell the 14 and that is just fine with me. This new Busa is still not going to be fast enough make up for not being able to ride. Some of these guys are so bad I think I would take the race riding my KLX125! I would really like to see and independant side-by-side comaparison of the 08 Busa vs. 08 14.

I always read that the 198 was with Ram air. Is this a fact? or have I been misreading?

Guys I have just heard some dyno numbers on the 08 14 and I am SWORN to secrecy but we will not be disappointed but neither will the busa guys... Same day same dyno within 1 HP of each other all the way across the board the good news is the weight on the fourteen is stated a LITTLE BIT high it is about 8 pounds lighter then the busa, SO i think the true test will be which bike responds better to SLIGHT modification i.e. pipe and pc
