Paris Motorbike show is next week as well, I will bet next week +/- one day we will know for sure. Using history as a guide I'll bet there will be fuzzy picks sometime this weekend, Kawasaki is not as good as Honda is in keeping secrets. Exciting time to be surfing the internet looking for news, we all know it's coming.

Spoke with a KMUK employee at the weekend and there was a strong hint that Kawasaki were not going to let the K8 Hayabusa steal the crown, announcement soon apparently.

I see where the 08 Busa is going to the drag strip in Vegas like the zx14 did in 06 .....Big press release just like the zx14 ....Makes me wonder if the 08 zx14 will be at the strip at the same time to lay down some smack .Or will kawi rent the track the day after the Busa and trump the Busa numbers ..?????

too bad smokin cant show up to their party on a stock 14 without flies.....that would be a cool write up in the mags.
"The New 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa crowned Queen at her own dragstrip debute!"

Read on Cycle World forums
http://forums.cycleworld.com/cycleworld/board/message?board.id=bikes_sport&thread.id=2151
"I just hopped on the bike, warmed the rear tire in the burnout box and did my run," said Canet with his usual astronaut-like nonchalance. That first run (on a stock bike, by the way) resulted in a 10.046 ET, with a trap speed of 143.8 mph. He decided to see if flipping the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS ) switch to the softer "B" setting would reduce the bike's tendency to wheelie in 1st gear for his next pass.
"It kept it from wheelie-ing, but I didn't get as good a launch as I'd like. I think it might lead to better times, but it would take a few passes." The second run didn't turn as good a time as the first, nor did the first run beat our best 9.78-second pass on the Kawasaki ZX-14.
Aaron Yates was able to muster a 10.08 pass; we're happy to say Don was the fastest at the event when I spoke to him on the phone a few minutes ago."

Reading brocks report at dragbike.com, you'll find the busa is anything BUT short of breath but there's power aplenty. The Achilles heel is that goofy torque limiter setup. Otherwise the bike seems very good on power and in brocks words, still restrained.
quote: Unlike the 2006 ZX-14 which was seriously neutered to reduce power in the lower gears (in an attempt to help prevent novice drag racers from scratching the back of there helmets!), the gentlemen at Suzuki decided that the 'experience challenged' can simply switch to a lower power mode via the S-DMS system, and the guys with their chests puffed out can have ALL of the POWER they need--RIGHT NOW!
Unfortunately for drag racers, they also decided to keep the non-launch friendly back torque limiter (found in the 99-07 Busa clutch assembly) which makes a smooth leave nearly impossible at the drag strip. To creep into the nines, I had to leave at 1500 rpm, wait for the clutch to engage like a switch, then screw the gas on slowly to modulate the front wheel height through the lower gears. Combine this with stock ride height, no strap, and only two passes or so each on hot clutches, and well you can see why I had a slight smile.
......It is very obvious that Suzuki concentrated on their trade mark with the Busa-POWER. Even in stock trim it will try to jump out from underneath you with any aggressive throttle movement in first gear. Banging second gear results in a wheelie which will not stop until YOU, the rider, decide it is time. Personally, as I rode the bike, I felt like it was actually detuned and begging for aftermarket enhancements.

Dude...the ZX times at the launch were 9.6 - 9.7.
A rider can't see the timing lights at the far end of the strip, but I knew I had clicked off a good, clean run. As I neared the pits, I could see people waving and yelling, and soon I came to learn that I had clicked off a 9.78 at 147 mph. Remarkably, that's only a tenth of a second slower than the best time logged by Gadson or Schnitz on a stock ZX! The fact that I wasn't able to better that time on my next two runs did nothing to diminish my elation. When corrected for temperature and altitude (as do all magazines), my run computed to a 9.46 at 152.0 mph. Pretty damn impressive for a bone-stock motorcycle, and easily better than a stock Hayabusa.
