Oil leak!! WTF!!!

Hey guys, i was riding today and noticed a little burnt oil smell at a redlight, well when i stopped i looked around a bit and found the problem. There is a bolt right above the clutch cover that looks like its hooked to some sort of linkage or something. Well its leaking from it and running down the side of the motor, so I guess i am going to the dealer in the morning to see what they will do about it. Has anybody had this problem? Will i have any trouble from Kawasaki? My bike only has 5730 miles on it, with the mods listed below. i will try to post pics hopefully. I just dont want them to keep my damn bike for weeks cause i know what a pain it is trying to get parts from Japan!!!!

I think someone else had that problem ...The bolt you are talking about is the rear Ballancer bolt or shaft .....There is a seal behind that linkage and is most likey the cause ...It's an easy fix ....Have the dealer look at it and if he doesn't have the part in stock have him order it ....THEN take you bike it for the repair when the part comes in , it shouldn't take more than a day and you will have your bike back... Well i went to the dealer today, and i pulled it in the shop and they said well did you tighten the bolt thats leakin, i said no its under warranty, so i didnt touch it. So he tightened the bolt a little more, and cleaned the oil around it off and said if if starts again come see me! Wow, thats pretty shitty, so they put me in danger with a oil leaking bike! I would rather they fix it by putting a seal in it, but at least its not leaking.....YET.

I agree but the next closest dealer is like 2 hours away. But if it starts again, i am going to call the next closest place and see if i can order the part and then make an appointment. Thanks guys.

Hopefully it is fixed, but they should not give you a hard time if it isn't.

A buddie of mine went to this dealership for a recall on his Gsxr 1000 and they wouldnt do it cause he didnt buy it from them, so he wrote Suzuki and they said that they would take care of it and apologized. But he went about 200 miles were he bought it and got it fixed...took 10 minutes. I hate this dealership, but they are the only dealer in this area.

Sounds like a valve cover leak, hundreds of posts on this, mine is dry there luckily, but most have the problem. Is it under warranty? If it is take it in, but it will proly come back, ive notice alot of people just live with it.
