Is this common for pingel shifters
Alright i hooked the shifter up. After riding the bike would jump out of second back into neutral when reving high rpms. Also lots of chain slack.

Mine has been flawless, All shifters will sometimes miss second if your Rs are low. Maybe you need to do an adjustment so the top of the upshift stroke is a tad higher, or maybe your kill duration is too short. I absolutely love this thing, esp the downshift feature.
Mine was very simple and straight forward to install.

Sounds like the shifter isnt getting all of second.
Mind taking a picture of how you have the brackets ?
ALso, the shifter does have anything to do with chain slack...

i notice the neutal sound like something grinding when the wheel was turned free hand. The chain went from 1in or so to 3in + in slack. I couldnt believe it. Ive been riding the bike with this new chain for 4days or so without the shifter. I had to adjust it a few times but nothing like this. I went with a heavier oil and rode the bike. It shifts rough but after sometime things got better. A may need to adjust the shifter height. I have the cut off duration at the shortest time. The instructions just say until the bike doesnt shut off at an idle. What do you guys have yours set at.

i'm assuming you have a pingel kill box. I don't know how they adjust, but you should set the kill time around 75 ms or so to start and turn it down if you can. I have the mps box, and it goes from 50-100 ms. They recommend starting at 75. I have mine around 70ms when running nitrousand 65 on motor. Any lower and it sometimes wouldn't shift. Try turning up the kill time.

i think the kill box goes from 40-90. I have it at 90

I thought you meant you had it set at the lowest setting. How much travel does the cylinder have when it pulls the shifter? You should have at least an inch before the cylinder bottoms out. Preferably more. Also make sure you're pushing the button firmly. When I first put mine one I was just tapping it and it would miss shifts sometimes.

Hey thanks mark, I will ck the shaft and make sure im pressing the button fully. Has anyone had any trouble with the trans using these shifter

mine also works great, talk to pingle, they told me to how to fine tune mine also.
