not slamming the speed , but the speed and the conditions, plus the obviously poor judgement.
no you cant do a 14.37 over gandy without putting the hammer down, especially with a souped up vstrom on your tail lmfao

when I got my 06 1400 in may of that year I got the wife the 250.the 250 is just as much fun and you can learn alot on it. they are a very forgiving bike and are great to learn on. the 1400 can be a handful if proper care is not given and you might scare your self to death a few times learning to respect the beast as it is not a toy. its the most powerful kawasaki they have ever made for the public and it has alot more to us....as we all know....enjoy and be safe. watch the front brakes ....they are very strong and its easy to get in trouble with them if not careful.watch the road conditions as they change all the time with stones and gravel. and wet leaves in the fall. that are very dangerous. stay away from traffic at first. until you master the little things... learn to start and stop without thinking about it....dont do anything you are not comfortable with....live with in your comfort zone. dont ride around large groups of bikes at first. and treat every car that you come across like it wants to kill you....drive with your hands on the clutch and front brake learn to use the back brake and the front brake together. watch the car tires and steering wheels for unexpected turnsand dont let anybody tail gate you. us bikers are invisible to the cagers.....they all swear they didnt see us after they kill us on the highways. wear the best leather jacket you can find and a good well fitting helmet and gloves. wear comfortable boots and enjoy your self .the sport is great and getting better all the time

Puerto Rico, huh? I've got a few friends down there. Funny, never met anyone from there until a few years ago, now everyfrigginbody is from there lol. Both of them ride and according to them theres alot of gravel roads there (or maybe they just look for them they are both into Rally Car Racing) but the guy from New York said the drivers down there are really tame and there is so many scooters, dualsports, and other bikes running around that the cagers are used to them, even outnumbered by them in town. So your learning curve should be alot easier. Just invest in a good set of textiles, or at least a textile jacket and some underarmor kneepads. And here's a thought: if your buddies dont wear gear, they will probably dog on you a bit over it, but they will just be airing there own insecurities about there lack of gear. And they could be worried that once there girlfriends or parents (lol) see you wearing it they will pressure them to get some. Hopefully you can start a 'gear is cool' trend, just make sure you can find the lightest most breathable equipment so it aint too much of a chore to wear in that hot weather. Good luck and have fun! Oh, btw, if you see a guy riding a red Ducati 1098 with alot of gravel damage to the lower fairings and a half face helmet his nickname is Bones. tell him Sticks said "Hi and too get a real helmet!". Thinks his Duc is a dualsport....

Weeks

Weeks to live is about right.

Tha salesman or the dealership that sold the bike to this guy, is no different than a bartender that serves up another shot to a guy that's already on his lips.

Completely irresponsible.

Someone should go and punch the shit out of the salesman.

good thing my first bike wasn't a 14. i can resist everything but temptation and i find pinning the throttle on just about anything with a motor irresistable. hope you have better self -control than myself. any bike can get you into big trouble quick, let alone the most powerful production bike on the planet

well the zx 14 is my second bike , and everyone said it was to big . But i feel great on it. My gpz 1100 is great too , but cant even come close to the Mighty 14. i did not want to start on a 600 because they feel a lil small to me . I am 6'0 and 225 lbs and wanted a bike that i could have for a long time and not have to upgrade to something larger.

A 14 in Puerto Rico....very cool...

Tyler:

All I will add to the many preceding posts is, take your time with getting up to speed bro. The 14 requires good judgement and major RESTRAINT from the rider at all times. It's simple........ if your stupid or have something to prove before you have skills....you DIE. .....Think about it every time you ride.

I wish you the best of luck with it, but by all means invest in proper riding gear B4 you spend your $ on blinging it out. Gear will save your ass....at some point, trust me. That said, there is plenty of stuff you can do to end up with a sharp looking bike. Enjoy.

Ride Safe......

I think the 14 with the flies in is a fine starter bike if you use your head a little. It's hard to get in trouble unless you're trying to, just keep the rpm's down for a while.

I gotta go with patricksperformance.com for bling. He sells a lot of billet caps and other bling that you can get powdercoated to match your bike. The candy red and candy blue are very nice. Prices are decent too.

Some tires....Michelin Pilot Powers and PP2ct also Pirelli Corse II tires do have better performance that the stock O14 Bridgestone's... Not to be harsh... you probably could not tell the difference

Tyler...We are all glad that you are enjoying you bike. Never think that the danger of riding a top class bike fades with time....to the contrary it grows with your own confidence.

I just lost a very good friend on 12 / 27/ 07 to a snowmobile accident in Wisconsin, He was 45. He had been riding... Bikes, Quads and Snowmobiles his whole life. He had a head-on with a guy from Ohio on a trail he was VERY familiar with.... He was in full armored gear and a helmet......His neck was broken.

All the concern for you and your inexperience is because we as a community have seen too much death and life changing injury to friends.... we try to keep our friends around because we like them

Have a really good New Year..... friend.

I have mixed feelings on this topic (even its an off topic for this thread). I learned to ride on a 1980 GS 1100 that had some heafty motor work done and had no problem with that. From there I moved up to a ZX11, since then I have had 2 Busas both modded with no problems. Now I have an 07 14 that I am still getting used to. Friens of mine have gone out and bought busas and R1's for their first bikes and I have tried to talk them out of it telling them its too much bike for your first time. They are all fine as well thank God! The guy that bought the R1 came with down to Deals Gap and we thought he was coming home in a body bag but proved us wrong once again. Respect the throttle Tyler thats the only thing I can tell you, the rest of the guys on the board have covered everything ten fold.

Back on the original topic, Roaring Toyz has some bad ass parts for your new bike. I have bought grips levers and some other small stuff from them and have had no complaints. STAY AWAY FROM H2O CYCLES!!!!
Good luck and be safe.

First Bike HUMMM ! wheres the pictures...I think some points are correct like stick's and others are from mars..Buying a motorcycle of this caliber for a first bike is the beginning of a long list of mistakes..Yea you can die just as quick on a 600cc...But where most new riders fail is the ability to use the brakes properly..Being a EMT i see plenty of bike crashes and almost all newbie riders leave a big old rear end skid mark...Then splatter...My point is a 600cc any factory model can get you there pretty quick and then being 150 lbs lighter than a 14 can also stop pretty damm good to...The 14 is a ballistic motorcycle in terms of every gear Available and its much much easyier to get in trouble from hi speed on a 14 and stopping requires alot more finess...I don't give a shit if you say you are going to take it easy everyone can't resist the temptation to crack the throttle, And you will someday. hopefully you will know what to do when the time arrives...Theres two kinds of bikers one's who have crashed and ones who are about to...Do yourself a huge favor and spend some money at a road racing school... I dont need higher insurance...
