+1

That makes that 08' busa's rear end look a little better...the black 1098s I saw on Sat. looks pretty good too.

I'm not going to jump to anything until we hear what Kawi says.

If anyone needs a welder for their frame there's a Miller in my garage plugged into 240V collecting dust. I'll only charge running a dust cloth across it before firing it up :P

Thank God your ok! Hopefully it was a freak accident type thing and this isn't something every 14 owner is in danger of.

I'm i seeing things here ??? Looking at my bike and looking where his broke i see one thing that could have happened ....

A very lose chain could come close and even hit right where the weld meets the two parts ....It would not take long to saw a small grove in the weld ..Once the grove is there the rest is all down hill...

I'm just tossing ideas out , think about it... Look what a chain does on a dyno or at the drag strip while doing a burn out ...All the slack goes to the bottom of the chain ...Even if your chain it set to factory specs it will under load look very lose at the bottom under load...If the chain was way out of spec the chain would or could make contact with that point of the frame ...

wow that was a great observation

folks - if your chain got damaged while it was damaging the frame, feel free to borrow my blue Miller welder for that too!

I just went a looked at mine, as I had a lose chain until last night!! Had me worried.

However, the chain is at least an inch away from there. Also if it could run, it would be rubbing about 1/4"+ to the side of the weld.

So in conclusion, the chain couldn't cause any wear on there....

TO who asked about the kickstand. It is there very clearly. All alone the bottom of the 4th image, and all alone the top in the fifth.

And isnt there a plastic 'guide' or sorts going a long the swingarm to prevent the chain the from rubbing ?

Its real quiet here and I think I heard a snap in the garage, let me go check my 14 frame real quick......

This from one of the guys at
Psychobike.com

Quote (MARCELO'S @ Aug. 15 2007 7:52 pm)
We have seen this already with guys pulling there own motor out. The rear engine bolt has an adjusting sleeve that winds out with the bolt side of the mount. The nut has to be removed first then the bolt slides out.. If you turn the bolt side it turns the sleeve outward and spreads the frame apart. Cracking in the same place as the picture.. See zx-14 manual for more details...

Find a good welder..

Having pulled a motor from a zx14 i know what Marcelo is talking about and looks like it would cause a frame to break if done wrong or the preload sleeve were over tightened...I guess it's possible that the sleeve was over tightened from the factory ....Smokin..

No we haven't posted back up yet because we don't have any info. I posted the pics but it's my riding buddies bike that broke and he's still waiting for info from Kawasaki. As soon as he knows more, he'll post up, I'm sure of that. He hasn't removed his engine or messed with that bolt in any way, that I'm aware of.

could this damage have been caused by chassis jack due to tight drive chain adjustment? the engine is the only thing i can think of that has enough force to shear the frame like that and the first post said the bike had just been serviced

like most frame break threads on this forum there is no concrete Kawi response whatsoever. search on the topic and you'll see a plethora of threads.
