Real hp numbers
Hey guys it been a year and some change and i was wondering has anyone split the casing on there 14. I mean i have heard some guys say they were about to get some things done but we never saw an update post. I am one included in this group. I backed off of doing a stroker motor because of the turbo craze. there was a guy here that was doing some R/d on a self made one that was putting out some great numbers and had a great price so i have been waiting on that. But i now have the 2 year itch with it coming down to late in the season to get an early start on an engine build. got a quote from muzzy on a stroker which i think is a fair price ($1700) but its just parts. Before i invest i was just wondering has anyone been down this road yet. Has anyone done just a 2 mm kit? has anyone done a 2mm kit with some light head work. Has anyone done a 2mm kit with cams? has anyone done a stroker motor. With my zx-12 before i did my stroker there were guys that had done it that led the way before i could get my bike broke in good it seems. If anyone has done any engine mods please let a brother know. we all know turbos are the sh--. i just want to se what a naturally aspirated zx-14 can do before i get down and dirty just some advice
Thanks

I know a guy that did a ported head and some JE pistons stock bore and laid down 209 hp. which is easy to believe my bike made 189 with pipe and power commander.

Dam Bently that pretty impressive i would like to assume that with the same set up if he did a 2mm kit he might have gotten 220. Seems verry atainable with those numbers

Brock is doing a Supersport package i.e Milling the head to bump compression, some porting and degreeing the cams with power results of around 205-210 on Pump Gas I think the price is 2500 drive in drive out

Thats what i am talking about man a 210-220 steetable killer i think i am going to go and order the pistons and let them sit for a while. Maybe i can take my bike to brock and get the supersport package he has and get him to drop the pistons in. what your take on APE. The do a whole swap for 1050 that include boring your motor to the 2mm specs and the piston kit

Speed costs $$$, How fast do you want to go? http://www.carpenterracing.com/zx14.htm
Not going to "drop in" the pistons with a one piece crankcase. Might as well go 2mm over with more CR since the whole engine has to come apart anyway. Some is good, more is better, and too much is just enough. lol

Hey larry i feel you on that bro. carpenter is a great shop a little out of my price range though. However i think they have a 3mm kit instead of the 2mm everyone has going by ther displacement numbers. I am defintely going with the pistons i just didnt want to go up 60 cc and only gain 6-10 hp. If that the case i will just stick with the spray. now if i can gain 20-25 it with out a dount a win win scenario. 210-220 naturally aspirated is my goal

If the head is milled, will the cam chain tensioner be enough to take up the chain slack or will a different chain have to be purchased?
