Spiegler bar riser kit pics

I recently installed the Spiegler bar riser kit on my 14. It has made a huge difference for me since I developed arthritis in my hands and wrist. No modifications of the fairing or windscreen were necessary.

Any Vibration

Any increase in vibration over the stock setup ? I noticed with the Convertibars there was a large increase in vibration in the handlebars. Thanks, Lee.

No more vibration than the original clip-on's, but I did get the heavier bar ends.

The width isn't much more than stock, but it feels wider since your hands are up much higher. I don't have long arms and I can now rest my hands comfortably on the bar when cruising with absolutely no pressure on my wrists or hands. This weekend, I'll stop by the dealer's and measure a stock bike and then mine and post the actual dimension differences. The bar makes dropping into corners very easy. I also took the bike on I-4 and I-95 and still don't have any turbulence issues, even with the stock windscreen.

Without making this change, I wouldn't be able to keep the 14 so I'm really glad that the finished product works so well.

I'm glad the change helped you out! It would have sucked to have to get rid of a great motorcycle!

you could keep your clipons and just install helibars risers on them. 3/4" rise, with a rear offset of 3/8". http://www.helibars.com/proddetail.php?prod=HC2614
I too have wrist problems and am looking for a way to alleviate it, but getting rid of my queen isn't the answer! Thats why the aftermarket is there, after all. Just wish I could keep my size 16 feet from hurting after long rides. They don't make riding boots to fit, and regular boots lack the ridgid arch area. I might have arthritis in my feet, too, but not sure being I'm only 36 years old. Wider footpegs might help, but I don't want to make it harder to reach the brake or shifter while leaned over. Any ideas?

I had the helibars first. They helped me reach the clipons a little easier, but the bar is much higher and with greater pullback.

I'm afraid I don't have any good ideas at the moment on helping a foot problem. Sorry.

Thanks to Sticks_n_Stones for the info on the Helibars, I have just back-ordered a set with a 3-4 week wait from the Australian agents. I was going to buy a set direct from HELI bars but they quoted me $100 US for the freight costs. I thought the price for the bars was quite resonable but the freight cost was a bit over the top. I am 6ft and get tingling in the hands when I ride over 100 klms, hope the extensions work. Has anybody else fitted these Heli bars?. You guys are lucky to have good companies over there, we are such a small market, we get ripped off with most imported bike bits.

Just remember Cedric, you are not getting BARS you are getting RISERS. They are simply spacers that go under your stock clipons, which brings them up far enough to clear the fork tubes, apparently, so that they can offset them to the rear a bit, too. If you're in Aussie land, have any machine shop make them for you. probably only cost you about $50 or less. just bring in your clip-ons, tell them what height and offset you want, 2 hours later Voila! Just don't vary your measurements much from the helibars, especially the rear offset, your hands or brake reservoir will hit the fairings! Good Luck!

I installed the helibars last week - wow!!! a very good improvement, especially since I have 3 herniated discs in my neck and when I ride I get pain and tingling - and for the past week, this has improved. The helibars are an easy solution and quite easy to install. I put the helibars on in about 10 minutes - and torque'd the screws to 12 ft-lbs like the directions said - EASY!

here is my set from spiegler...
little unconventional, I installed them last year , when all thet was available ws the heli risers.

They are good compromise between the spiegler handlebars and the heli risers.
I can still get way down below the windscreen, and fwd weight bias /balance is not affected much.

They are the LSL match clip ons, inverted and installed above the top clamp.

These are about 2 full inches closer 1.5 inches higher and at least 3 inches higher at the bar ends...
They have much less downward sweep through the handles.

Cost me less then $200, and used stock cables etc...

The angle of the stockers really bothered my wrist.

Needs black bars though, just never got around to ordeing them...
I guess I have other priorities.... like nitrous!

Wow, I'm not usually one to complain but those setups are ugly as hell in those colors. Maybe black would be ok. I'd love to have my bars a bit higher. I have the Heli Risers and they do help, but it could be better.

Yes , yes I know.
The clip on brackets only come in silver, and i just ordered black tubes...
I have alot of parts that will likely be getting powder coated this winter...
Not as pretty as stock but they are functional
I did sell the helirisers after only 1 ride with the lsl clip ons! They ARE that much better!

I am a happy man

Ugly? look what you done to yours... LOL... but it works for YOU right?

In any event I have logged as many as 1045 km (600 miles- and twisy ones at that) in 10 hrs including lunch and fuel stops with this set up.
Any many consecuitive days on end....

Stock, my wrists hurt after 2 hrs , or less if it was in town tooling around.

Ya, I know, people say my shit is ugly all the time, but a lot of people love it and I love it so what the hell. You are obviously happy with your setup. I guess it bothers me so much because I want em so bad, lol.

I just hit 10k miles on my bike Steve.
