That's right it's the internet, I'd love to have seen SE's reaction should you have said your first post to him in person, say at a bike meet.
Internet, full of tough talkers.
I've made my point, attempted to point out some facts about the bear hunt here, and conduct myself as an adult....others on the other hand have taken the attitude, "it's the internet".....

he is an old man in his sixties. and everything i say, i will gladly say in person. take you for example, id love to tell you everything above to your face, because you wouldnt do a fucking thing except try reasoning with me, or call me a jerk, which is what youve done above.
anyhow, im going to bed now. that should give you plenty of time to come up with some kind of witty retort.

Yeah, you are a jerk, but this is the first post in which I am telling you that you are. I am not gonna go back and recount how many names you have thrown around. Keep working on your credibility there.

Great great grand dad cross the plains in the 1849 Calif gold rush ... On his trip he killed everything in sight ..He had to feed his family on the trail ...My dad on the other hand loved to hunt as a child but after world war 2 he wanted nothing to do with killing anything....He told me he saw way to much death and didn't care to see anymore....For myself i grew up on a 10,000 acer Family Ranch in North Cailf ....I loved hunting and shot and killed anything and everything ....We cooked and ate everything we killed.. To kill something and not eat it in my familys eyes would be a waste .... As i grew up i lost my taste for hunting and haven't been Hunting for 30+ years...For me Burger king is much easier than field stripping a Dear ... I really don't have a point here i just wanted to waste some space ..

When man has divided, sectioned up, and now controls the "wild" we are responsible for keeping the balance of nature. Live with it, it is a fact, we have to kill certain predators and prey animals to keep the balance. The forests could not recover without our help if the bears were left alone, killed all the deer, antelope, elk, etc. then went after domestic livestock and pets, and us, leading to there deaths by starvation or state sponsored killing. The forests are not abundant enough, are too seperated and isolated from each other, and could not repopulate like they could before settlers arrived. Since population 'thinning' is required, why should the state pay for the hunt when hunters can and will pay large sums to do it for them? not to mention the large sums brought into nearby towns by these 'tourist hunters' on there way there and back. Come on people, pull your heads out, it's impossible to get anything done if you do not look at the whole picture. And I haven't even mentioned the fact that hunters and fisherman are some of the strongest environmental activist groups out there. Name me a single forest preserve bill passed thru congress that wasnt sponsored or supported by hunting and/or fishing special interests groups? Maybe in your mind its simply a matter of going out in the woods, walking up to a deer or bear and pulling the trigger. Not even close, more like weeks spent scouting vast areas before the hunting season, days and days trudging, sneaking, and waiting for the right moment, and if you're lucky you MIGHT get to take a shot. In Washington state, the 'evergreen state', only about 1/3rd the deer hunters get a deer every year. Bear hunters even worse odds. So please don't post like you have aclue about a subject you can't comprehend. You know, kinda like you feel when an ignorant coworker tells you bikes should be outlawed because they're 'dangerous' and 'irresponsible'?

I don't hunt, personal choice, but I enjoy eating tasty meat someone else has killed, YUM! I believe sustainable hunting is a great sport and one that needs promotion rather than all the contempt attached to it .

My last 2 cents. This thread was originally posted by a guy trying to act macho by saying he is going bear hunting. Whatever the debate might be on the pros and cons of hunting itself, the spirit in which this thread was posted has nothng do with any of them. It was nothing more than a boast. If he wants to hunt, I suppose that's his business. However, why should any of us on this forum give a damn what he does outside of anything relating to a ZX-14. As I said before, he needs to get a a real life in the real world and stop trying to show his manhood by posting a headline on a forum.
Besides, at the end of the day, I would rather spend my time hunting a different kind of "bare."
