quote: Look fellas I aint saying the D208's are the best out there for normal riders, far from it, but when it comes to a rider plus bike weight of over 800 pounds tires react differently, heat up a helluva lot quicker, and a tires composure and ultimate traction can totally change compared to you lightweights with a combined weight of what, 550-600 pounds? When it comes to MY results saying the D208's have better traction than the Pilot Powers in the corners it is undisputed. When I'm pulling 600's (the I-4 variety, for some reason the SV650's ridden hard and well can match my exits) out of the corners, something is working right for me. On the Pilot Power's I can't ride that way, though I can toss my TL with alot more confidence, leading to a faster corner speed, if I try to lift the front wheel coming out of the corner it just slides. I hate slides. As the saying goes "results may vary consult your doctor".
PS: if you guys know anybody my size trying to road race have him PM me, we can trade techniques, set up info, and donut recipes.
sticks, your weight makes the Dunlap tire stickier? No matter how much heat I put on what brand of tires (even with tire warmers per below), the pilot powers are always stickier. Me not being a physics major nor being heavy, please help me understand how a less softer and stickier tire provides more traction to heavier riders? Thanks

It's all trial and error, point is its either the extra heat (I have to really get the tires up to temp before pushing them with the Dunlops, not so much the PP's) or most likely the extra pressure pushing down in psi, or the tire carcass contorting to give me a larger footprint. the Pilot's dont have the give or squishy squating feeling the Dunlops did, felt alot "harder". Which comes back to the fact that tires react differently on different bikes, especially when you factor in both my weight and being a v-twin. Hell man, someone here (beside centerhub lol) should be able to explain it better than me, I'm not a tire engineer. I just know that any tire I shred on has to be able to run cool or be able to run hot without getting greasy. And I will not run race tires on the street. except for maybe the Racetec's once. I plan on burning thru a set of those on the 14 when I ever take it to the track. I'm lucky, best friend has a shop, dealer prices and free mount/balance.

And once and for all, I gotta stop jacking this thread, the only benefit I had, outta all the possible areas that tires are graded/judged on, there was only 1 area where the D208's worked exceptional for me: maximum grip when hit with both a cornering load AND a accel or decel load. Great for me for late braking up to 3/4+ lean angle and especially holeshotting out from about 3/4 lean on up. Did slide some, but never uncontrollably or unanticipated (love to do it to guys I dont know, freaks them out they think I'm gonna highside an exit wheelie. I don't even think thats possible without being headshake induced from a slam down-hopefully I never find out!)
