greetings from nw va. like many others i've been lurking here for quite some time before finally signing up. all the info and topics has been awesome(and often funny as hell) i bought my 14 jn june of last year and have been head over heals since. kind of a love at first sight story. the wife and i went to the dealer to scope out busas. i was in the market for a new bike and was trying to decide between a big cruiser(love my dad's vtx 1800) and a big sport that could double as a tourer. i had no idea that the big ninja even existed but she caught my eye as soon as walked in the door and all thoughts of a cruiser evaporated. i walked around her once, then mounted her, that's when the salesman walked over and informed me she would spank a busa. i told him to go start the paperwork and i drove her home that day. that's the largest compulsive purchase i've ever made and the best. what can i say about this bike that hasn't been said here before? this bike f-n rocks in every way possible.yeah a 600 might make laps on a closed course quicker but out on the open streets nothing comes close to over-powering the big ninja. this bike causes obsession. whenever i'm not riding her i'm thinking about riding her (or i'm on this sight reading about riding her) so far i've added a puig double bubble, factory center stand, joe rocket xl mantra(truely needed)and yoshi trc ti slip-ons. i know a full system makes more hp and costs the same but i had to keep the duals. went to power pilots after burning up the factory tires- what a huge differance! hope to get power commander and pull flies soon but have to buy more tires first. wife blew my budget by buying 07 ninja 650r, also an awesome bike and passion red like my 14. anyways i would like thank everyone who makes this sight possible and contributes to it. all the info/ knowlege shared is awesome! i will posts pics as soon as i figure out how. i'm not very good with computers. peace and thanks again!

Welcome!! I know exactly how ya feel! Laid mine down a few months ago but now Kong's back. All I could, can, and still do is think about riding my bike. I agree on the keeping the duals. I know a full sys might squeeze out some ponies but I love the way the dual Carbon Muzzy pipes flow with the bike. Watch out for gravel in the twisties..... it's a bitch!

Welcome and sound like you have a nice ride. See the threads on "pulling the flies".
I went with LeoVince slipons in Ti, and I too like the "dual" look. Plus I got them new in the box for 350.00.
As for the cruiser thing, I did both! King of the Hill street bike (ZX-14) and the biggest baddest cruiser, the 2007 Vulcan 2000 cc LT. Just put a Hypercharger on it with Muzzy Drag pipes...got the best of both worlds there. And you will reap dividends by doing mods on the wifes bike first. Everytime I want something new, I make a new change or upgrade on the wifey's first! Works like a charm. She's happy coz I work her bike and coz she comes first.
Stay safe!

i here ya on the gravel Wraith! i ride mostly on mountain roads and road wash is very common, i have had a few heart stopping moments when flying around a corner and hitting apatch of gravel and/or dirt. sorry to hear yours hit the ground. i took a rock to the radiator a couple of weeks ago and was down for a while waiting for new radiator. that sucked! cox racing guard came in today, wish i would have bought it a long time ago when others posted with same problem. live and learn. good advise V2K! always put your lady first and she will do the same for you. so far she's got kawi frame sliders(expensive but best looking and well made) and grab handles. needs different windscreen. still would like big cruiser but check book needs a break and mods to 14 and 650r will come first.

Thanks BIG! It sucked... The worst is over. At least we (bike and I) live to ride another day! I'm gonna have to check out those sliders and that guard. Not planning on going down for awhile but just for the O-sh_t factor...

I agree our Florida chicks are HAWT. And most of 'em ride their own sportbikes instead of 2-up.

Welcome bro..
BigZXDaddy:
Welcome and keep the rubber on the road. Like you I have a centerstand on my 14 but with a Leo Vince 4-2-1. Just way easier for all maintenance. Having just done a 500 mile daytrip on the 14 including 4 hours in the Florida rain yesterday...there is only one....ZX14.
Ride safe.....

alot of chick riders around here but mostly on HD's and not that hot, thanks for the replies everyone! Leo, i love the centerstand. i have never had a bike w/ centerstand that worked so easily, plus it worked with the yoshi slip-ons with no mods needed to stand or pipes! another thing about it that i don't believe i've seen mentioned is that the stand weighs less than the belly wing bracket it replaces. anyone doing weight shaving should throw that thing in the garbage or fab one from aluminum. it looks like it was made at the romanian land rover factory in the 60's

Just remember,
the black one "blend" the best, esp at night.
