2nd fan on the new Concours 14
Well if you don't know by now the new Concours 14 does have two radiator fans. I was at a local dealer yesterday and I just missed a new Coucours going out the door by 5 minutes I got to look at the microfilm though so I can confirm the second fan. But if you're thinking of using the right fan from the Concours on a ZX14 you'll still have some modding to do. The left fan on the Concours doesn't seem to be an exact match to the ZX14 fan. Or more precisely the mounting brackets seem to be a bit different. The ZX fan has a top center single mounting point slightly higher than the radiator and it looks like the C14 has a top center, dual, side by side, mounting point slightly lower than the top of the radiator. And the ZX14 fan is a different part number than the left fan on the C14. Still, it should be easier to mod a right fan from a Concours14 to fit on the right side of a ZX14 than to do a left fan mod as I did.
By the way, so far I haven't gotten any hotter than 1 bar above center. Hottest day since I did the mod was mid 90's with high humidity.

How about replacing the entire radiator with both fans ? Are the hose connections in the same locations ? How about the top and bottom radiator mounts ?

Me neither, with only one fan...

I don't remember seeing the radiator to frame mounts but even if it is the same you'll be spending big $$. If you get the parts from the dealer the fans cost over $400 each and the radiator over $600.

I've been watching the Tour de France on TV (No Lance Armstrong this year guys) and there are several Concours 14's being used in the convoy. They probably need the extra fan crawling along at 30mph two-up.

Yeap, that would be rather costly. I will be looking into adding the second radiator as well, as I live in So. Cal. So far, I am inclining to get the second radiator from Concours 14. Have to check the parts assy. fiche from KMC website, as soon as it becomes available.

I ride in Western Australia and our weather gets very hot in mid summer, well over 100 degrees F. I bought my 14 in April this year but didn't reach the extreme levels on the temp gauge. I wonder if there are any experts on cooling who could advise if you changed from 50% Glycol to 100% if this would improve heat transfer in the system? Just a thought.
I previously owned a GL1000 Wing and ran 100% glycol as per the manual.

According to what was said in last weeks thread on Water Wetter you should reduce the percentage of Ethylene Glycol to improve the heat transfer.

Glycol does not work at 100%. You don't want to do this. Running straight water is the coolest way to go, but you need to add something to lubricate the pump and reduce corrosion. Water wetter works well.
