Calling ZX-14/Hayabusa Combo Owners!!!

I know there are a lot of people on this site that have both bikes, and although there are a lot of comparisons of the two, the majority is in regards to their speed or to their "modibility". I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me about the bikes' comfort. Riding on my 12R feels like a Cadillac compared to my friend's bikes but I have never ridden a Busa. Some people on this board relate this ride to being "jerky" and not smooth. Overall is the 14 a smoother ride than the Busa (especially at high speeds)? What is the general consensus?

The 14 is easier to corner and knee drag around than the 'busa for me. I ride my 14 and a friends 'busa a lot.

Others may not find this to be the case. I'm 6'2" and 190.

For me its a mute point- compared to my 600RR track bike, both bikes are a pig.

owned 3 busa in past, zx14 engine alot smoother, busa buzzy around 4000 rpm. brakes not even close, busa takes alot more effort to stop. i like the way both ride, ergos, handling, busa 's seat hard as hell, get use to stopping more often to rest . i still think with flies out in zx14, busa has more grunt in lower rpm, just my opinion.
i did not mention this before but this last sunday as i was riding my zx14 i saw a 02,03 busa got next to me and we were playing a little and we did 3 roll ons from 60 miles in second gear till 110 miles and each time we were dead even. his looks like a stock busa ( stock exhaust) not sure if different gearing or any other mods, he probably weigh less than me .
i was a little disappointed that i did not pull on him, really can't be riders error since we tried it 3 times. i have brocks mega street wit pc brock map and no flies.
i thought i should pull at least a bike length on him but that wasn't the case.
i am not happy with performance of the bike from 3000 to 8000 rpm. thinking to go to local shop and check the mapping next week. it feels flat and wakes up over 8000 rpm.

Not on the track you wouldn't. I've had 2 Busa's and now a 14. The 14 is more comfortable by far, handles way better and much easier to push down in corners, not to mention braking. I'm 6'2" at 215 LBS. It's as easy at cornering as it is riding my 10R.

if you like corners go with the 14 definitely a better bike in the corners than the busa, like steve stated.

i would not worry about this.... it is probably the weight difference.... my best friend has a zx10 slip on only. he weights 155lbs i have my stock pipe zx14 im 303lbs.... rolling first gear start he jumps me by a bike and by 3rd gear we are even.... im sur with more road id pull on him a little.

You have almost 150lbs on this kid, so it would be tough. These little sprighty bastards are quick on just about any ride.

Maddog, I don't think they make that much road...anywhere.

Ninja_Knight, go with the 14. I came off a zx12 to the 14. I've got some seat time on an '05 busa too. My 12 was more comfortable than the busa....two totally differnet rides, but I thought the 12 was way more comfy. There is no comparison in comfort between the 12/busa and the 14....the 14 is the absolute best. It is unbeleiveably comfortable, no need for helibars or corbin seat either.

Shawn, what gearing are you running? 16/42?

from what I recall of the busa, you were rollin from in the busa's 'sweet spot'. I could be wrong though....

stock gear.
i think you are right about sweet spot. the guy on the bike was for sure shorter than me and weight less i am 5'11" 180 pounds. i just filled my gas thank all the way before the run.
hey at least he did not beat me, that would really hurt with all the mods on mine.
it is not a big deal i just want to get my money worth with all the mods otherwise keep it stock.

Just change your sprockets to 16/43's and watch 'em all
There's as much difference there as removing the flies...trust me on this one!

I have a 43t stock sprocket from a ZX7, in which I used on my ZX9 for a while. Upon washing my bike, I have noticed that the ZX14 rear sprocket looks the same...hmmm....maybe I'll look closer and see if infact they are!

I believe that he was speaking of the fact that he weighs 303lbs... not that he would 'crush' one in a race... I think it was a joke about his 'large' build. That was what my take on his statement was. I would have to agree.... 303lbs on a 600, the bike wouldn't stand a chance... $#%snap %^# crackle *#&@pop. Until he hit 13000rpms... he would have to be pushing it.

600's don't start running well until around 13000 RPM, and they run best between 10,000 and 15,000 RPM. . And we race with some big huge boys that push their 600's around the track faster than one could imagine, and much faster than on a big bike. Even the big guys on the SV650's with less HP smoke on the race track.
