200 Tire

The ZX14 wears a 190 shoe; has anyone put on a 200 with the stock swingarm? Anybody know if it will fit?

Yes, it will fit. If you do a search, you will find that it has been done before. The only concern was the handling...

a 200 size tire on a stock bike is a thing of the past...

If you want a big tire then get a 300!!!

The ZX12R came stock with a 200 series tire. Most of us swapped it out for a 190 pretty quickly

What about a 180 shinko for the rear ? Is my thinking all wrong when i say it could give you more contact patch ? (then a 190)

180 = less patch in the middle but better handling in turns

I have to disagree with you Steve. The 180 will have more contact patch in the middle then the 190 or 200 because you have a narrower tire on a rim meant for a larger tire, so therefore it causes the tire to spread out more in the middle to compensate for the width of a wider rim, also many guys including myself have gone to a narrower tire because of this and because it's usually a lighter at 180 then 190, less rotating mass, which translates into more HP.

X2.

I've run the 180 three different times, and the 190 once, and the 180 had more contact.

Right now, I have the Michelin Power Race 180 'Soft Compund', and at 100 passes, it is stickier than anything I've ever seen before. My bike wants to rotate around the tire with 15 psi. Of course the track has got to be prepped pretty good.

100 passes and the tire still has lots of tread left. I was concerned that the Michelin may not last as long as the Shinko, but its proven to last. I think its because it requires very little burnout.

Saturday I was up to 18 psi, sitting at 69" wheelbase, and I couldn't launch the bike cuz it was hooking so good. Kept bucking off the line.

Thats exactly what I run on the track, tire warmers a must. I guess you burn it off on the drag strip to heat it.

The tire is so soft and gummy I can see my thumb print in it.
