TRE's
I posted that I thaught I need a TRE on my 14, I have been told to remove my fly's, I am going to do that, Another member said "Remove the fly's and a tre? what do you think a trer does?" I do understand his point, but from what I have read on other sites the tre make the bike think it is in 6th all the time, ok we all know that, by doing so causes the fly's to open quicker cause it feels that there is no reason to hold back on power. I know that removing the fly's with be a better flow situation that just causing the bike to open them, all the way, "not confermed" up. But this is where I guess I have read wrong or we may be missing out on a little more power. The tre is said to also, on top of the opening of the flys, Change the timing curve in the lower gears. So hint the name "Timing Retard Eleminator" That is somthing that just pulling the fly's wont do to the bike. I do have a good source for the report on a TRE.

Let me know what you guys think of this, I have serch the form and have not found a topic on the TRE its self,.

The downside to the TRE, is that you lose the GPS indicator and it will always show 6th gear, while adding virtually no benefit to your performance. Removing the flies and mapping will give you the best results, no question. It has been said by many here that the TRE and fly removal give you no perceptible difference at all over just removing the flies. I can't imagine that there could be any more power or improved throttle response by adding the TRE...and you'll understand why, once you've removed the flies and mapped the PC3...besides which, most member here can't stand Ivan and his TRE anyway, so just on principle alone, they wouldn't bother with the TRE.

I had the TRE before I took my flies out and it did EXACTLY what Ivan said it would and Ivan has never been anything but helpfull and kind to me and even he told me that the name Timing Retard Eliminator is misleading because it does not affect timing he said he used that name because of the recognizability of the name TRE. The TRE will make a NOTICEABLE difference in the bottom end power but not as much as removing the flies. And removing the flies is FREE Again I have absolutely no Problem with Ivan or his products but I think that on the 14 the TRE is unneeded just remove the flies. P.S Ivan does provide great maps for a lot of Pipes and he is a GREAT tuner

The TRE is a useful modification on some bikes, I had one on my 'Busa a while back but I really don't think it's the best route to go on a ZX-14 and it's quite expensive for what it is.
'Flies out plus Power Commander is my preference, plus the Gear Position indicator continues to function.

LS1: Go to www.brocksperformance.com and read all of his diaries. He test in depth the low end power gains of the TRE compared to removing the secondary butterfly valves. Everything you want and need to know is in there.
