Got a Prostar win finally!!!! Pics!! Another huge milestone was reached for me Sunday as I picked up my first (and hopefully not last) win in AMA Prostar aboard my '06 ZX-14. It was at the Schnitz Memphis Blue Nationals in Memphis, TN.
I know its only Street ET, but trust me, it ain't easy. I had to go 6 rounds to pick up the win.
On Saturday night, I made it to the quarter-finals (4th rounds) of the Pro ET race, which is really tough because I was running against bikes with delay boxes, slicks, and wheelie bars.
The ZX-14's were well represented. Rickey Gadson picked up the win in Super Street class.
Here's a few pics.....

Saw the post and really didn't think it would be anyone but you. Enjoy bro you deserve it your one bad ass rider to light up against. I have seen your photobucket before. I used to race under P.J. Mafaro when I was younger I wish I still had time for that. Different big money game today then it was then. Thanks for reppin the 14 so hard at all the tracks you hit. Once again congrats and enjoy. It's easy to see by the pic you race for the love of it.

Good job! I take it Naarden is your sponser? I just got a set of their lowering links from the blow out sale at MPS. Very nice pieces. From talking with the lady on the phone at MPS, the had a major fall out with Naarden and were clearing the shelves of all their products.

CONGRATS!!!!!! that is Awesome!!!!
I remember my first (and only so far) Prostar win!!!! it was incredable!!! so many rounds...
great job!!!!
quote:Congrats! What tires are you running now? I recall you were running the Shinko's before....
I love the traction of the Shinko, but was looking for something lighter...
I bought a brand new Michelin Pilot Power Race 'Soft' from Richie's tires. It was the 190/50, and I found it to be really rounded. The track was not good at all Saturday, and I spun 3 out of 4 qualifying passes. (2 for Street ET and 2 for Pro ET). Didn't blow the tire, but there was some spinning.
Then, surprisingly Saturday afternoon, I found a vendor that had a used 180 version of the exact same tire. It didn't have many passes on it, but did have an inch wider contact patch than the 190. Best part about it, they sold it to me for $15.
So I mounted the 180, and that sucker bit every pass Sunday. Quite impressed with the 180, plus it is a few pounds lighter than a Shinko.
Don't get me wrong, the Shinko is the best bang for the buck, but the Michelin has tons of bite in it. Also, I saw lots and lots of the Michelin's out there. They are getting real popular, and are DOT approved.

Yes Naarden is my Sponsor. They have the highest quality lowering links on the market.
I do not know the story behind the MPS/Naarden thing. I did see that MPS had them on clearance though.

There is no such thing as Just Street ET, at that level you better be on your game or you will be on your trailer making excuses on why you should of won. Heck, I have days I can't get out of first round at my local tracks! Good job and enjoy the win, it is well deserved.

Yes, I agree. I only said that because some people think of Street ET as a 'beginners' class, and some think that its not hard to win in Street ET. But in reality, its very hard. To get a non-wheelie bar bike to launch consistently round after round takes lots of practice, heck it took me 4 years to be where I am today.
Then in Prostar, as some of you have experienced, they make the Street ET bikes line up in the 'outside' groove, because they say the street tires screw up the good groove for the Pro's. I think thats a load of crap, but its something that we have to deal with. Every loss I've ever had in Prostar Street ET came from tire spin. I was lucky this go-around that I got that Michelin Pilot Power Race 180 mounted Saturday. That sucker got it done for sure!!!
