That was the sound lastnight of the teeth breaking off my back sprocket. When i got to the track i was still having major traction issues...been fighting them since the first of year. It took a dragster getting squirrely for them to put some VHT on the track. It hooked on that pass...really hooked. It wheelied because i didnt have the front strapped and when it came back down i stood in it again and and heard the noise....i'm kinda happy...i thought all this time it was my set-up and it wasnt. I have a vortex cat 5 on the way...(they was out of stock on the hardened one) and new front 16 tooth. Hoping for good #'s next week

It's nice to have the power to strip the teeth off a sprocket....

Had a sprocket specialst....i cant say nothing bad about it, it lasted all last year and the first of this one and only chipped one tooth since then. I just got set-up as a vortex dealer so it was perfect timing.

Lee...it was funny, somebody once told me it takes a 500hp bike to strip teeth off a sprocket..guess it only takes 190 hp and one heavy guy : )

you are the MAN.

Vortex is awesome. I run the 520 vortex stuff on the track bike (different sprocket sizes for different tracks).

When/if my ZX14 needs sprockets, it'll be a great excuse to put the hardened flavor Vortex to that bike too.

Just the Vortex decal alone on the front of track bike givesthe bike about 5 MPH more ~

Yea ill have my new sprockets by tuesday and i'll do another mad dash to get them on for wednesday night. It seems like the bike is always in a million peices tuesday night and i'm thrashing for wednesday. I had to order a 16t sunstar steel sprocket for the front because everybody was out of the billet ones. I might keep the one i have on there but i wanted to do both....when you push the bike backwards you can hear it clicking.

I know a guy that just stripped a VORTEX sprocket with only 170HP playing on the street.

Chain adjustment! Check it regularly!

Does chain adjustment play a big roll on sprocket wear? I always keep a close eye on mine to make sure it ain't loose. I've adjusted it probably 4 times since last november, it's got around 3400 miles on it.

I check my chain almost on a daily basis. I probaly spend at least,5-6 hours a week working on or prepping the bike for the track. I think 400+ pass's out of a sprocket is pretty good....
